Yippee! A new 21’ Escape!

Well, it was down to the wire, but we finally made all of the choices and decisions, and submitted our build sheet.

We decided to go all-out on this one. Ordered most of the options to make it safe and fully functional whilst camping with and without hook ups.

It took quite a bit of research, and I thank you all who advised us along the way. This forum has been indispensable in helping with the decision-making process!

We hope to meet up with you again at some of the rallies.
Cheers!

You can spend the next 6 months ordering from Amazon and getting to know the UPS driver.

Were you informed about all the secret options that aren't on the options sheet?

Such as:
  • 12v wires to each OH storage closet

  • Extra depth of u-shaped dinette

  • Split the u-shape dinette back and seat cushions

  • Filler cushions for u-shaped dinette

  • 4" thick rear cushion, instead of 2" thick, so your back is not leaning on the rear window knobs.

  • Not cutting in the GoPro solar controller so you can substitute your own controller, so no ugly hole

  • Bring your own batteries (AGM's or Battleborns)

Others could add more.

Perhaps a thread (sticky) should be started to identify these secret options.

Arriving next week are more refillable LP bottles, CO detector, Martin catalytic heater, and a Zamp solar port. At some point a Victron solar controller will replace the GoPro.

Enjoy,

Perry

That would be a great idea! I'm starting my build sheet this weekend for a 5.0, I'd love to know if this stuff applies to it as well. I really want to make the u dinette a nice lounge area

Congratulations to you! Did you get the 21’?
Not sure when we’ll pick up...as it depends on DH’s work schedule, and a host of other factors. But to time it with the rally is a great idea!

Quite a few, huh? Yes, I knew about most, after researching for about 2 months. But we went nuts with all of the regular options as it is.
We did go with the halving of the cushions, a different table pedestal, smaller cut table, and filler board to change it into a lounge.

All of the changes do add up, so one has to stop somewhere!

But I agree, consolidate the “off the sheet” options somewhere. It will be a great help to future Escapees.

I don’t know how this applies to the 5.0, but here are some instructions for lounge in the 21’:

New, improved dinette table for our Escape 21 | Follow Toto

Hope this helps...good luck!

We did indeed order the 21! So glad the build sheet is done. We are going to pick up trailer in sumas then go across the Cascades, slowly, and then up to Osoyoos.

North Cascades

North Cascades NP is beautiful but not always open in May. I passed on going there several times and then when we had solar put on the 21 in August of 2017 we went. Still snow in the high areas. Did not have reservations but got a good site in the campground. Had a deadline back home so did not stay long. I could easily stay a week there. Wonderful visitor center and great views.

You will probably want to arrive early in Chillliwack and stay at Best Western located right next door. Then on day of orientation travel to Sumas and then head right back to Chilliwack to check out (ask for a late check out) and then drive over to Osoyoos from Chilliwack, a beautiful drive.

Yep, we already have our reservation at the Best Western. Going to see the Othello Tunnels the day before orientation. Chose to drive Cascades because we want to get our naional park stamp!
