A brush with fame.....

Anyone here have any skeletons in their closet? I have two at least in mine, my father's mother, Virginia Davis was from Alabama and was a granddaughter to Jefferson Davis, the Confederate leader in the Civil War. She had a family bible which her mother documented the burning smell during Sherman's March through the South and the family hid in caves to escape. The bible is still in the family.
On my mother's side was an uncle Bill Pullen who lived in Johnstown, Pa and during the 1936 flood he rescued several people swept away in the water by positioning himself on a bridge and reaching for the victims in the waters that had risen to the bridge. Luckily the bridge held and he survived. Several dozen people did not. If you ever visit Johnstown, take the funicular tour https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnstown_Inclined_Plane

My great great grandfather on the James side of my family was an outlaw. He robbed people when he was young, quit for awhile but later returned to his bad ways. He met an ignominious ending. While hiding from the law in the Big Thicket area in East Texas, a bug crawled up his nose while he was sleeping. His nose became infected and he died from it. My mother's grandfather was a sniper (bushwhacker) for the South in the Civil War. He later switched sides to the North, changed his name and did not return to the south after the Civil War was over. Whether it was because he switched sides or was afraid of revenge from southerners I don't know. I do know that my grandfather had problems with his last name when joining the navy in WW1.
PS: My great grandfather was pretty old when my grandfather was born.
