Witnessed two drone flyers get tickets - one at Grand Canyon NP and the other at Davis Mountains SP Texas. Recreational drone use is prohibited at Texas state parks and at most all National Parks.

Need to check the park, forest, or other public land rules before using.

RULES...what rules, so many of these people don't care as some one mentioned it's just Me, Me, Me any more.

I just ran a couple out of our subdivision Sunday that were out here flying a drone. When confronted she just kept saying "It's not illegal" But in a gated subdivision they have no business being in it anyway especially flying a drone with out permission.

The best thing I have used one for is having a friend with one fly a 200 foot radio tower to check out all of the antennas and feed lines while we were still on the ground and not having to climb to inspect everything.

My home is about 60 mi south of the Kingsville, TX Naval Air Station and the student pilots juke around here on a daily basis.

I like it! The sounds of freedom.

Although a great evolving technology, I am concerned with the potential danger and invasion of privacy in the hands some users. Video from my nephew at our September Rally. https://youtu.be/aSZQ2ZVHwIU

I would have shot this drone down …. complete invasion of privacy. Why else carry a 50 caliber air rifle …. quiet and effective. I think this video is the perfect example of what is going wrong in the world …. a complete lack of consideration of other people.

No consideration of those who might watch it either. More than 12 minutes of pans and zooms.

Something creepy about that music, can’t quite place it. Banjos hmmmm.

I’d say to my Dad, “I wonder what the river looks like between those two bridges” He’d say “which one do you want me to drop you off at and when do you want me to pick you up?” And away I would go. Took more time than a drone movie but I really learned a lot. And my legs were strong. Still do it but at a slower pace. No substitute for your own boots on the ground.
I’ve done whole programs on things that fly launched, flown, ascended and landed safely and not so safely from public recreation sites. There is liability, that’s for sure.

The classic banjo pickin' scene from the movie Deliverance. Deliverance is a 1972 drama film produced and directed by John Boorman. Principal cast members include Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ronny ...
I had no issues with the Videos of our Rally, but can see where others mite. It does open lots of questions:
Legal in a State Park?
Drone might have crossed into Canadian air/water space.
It might be just as illegal to shoot one down. There was a local case where a drone was flying over a Back yard and the owner shot it down. The home owner was ticketed.
What happens when a drone damages an Aircraft or flies through a windshield.

A radio controlled airplane will bust the front window out of a new (89 hours) Volvo loader owned by a rock quarry. The landowners having done their due diligence required a million dollar liability policy naming them as also insureds. Outcome: the flying club insurer paid just under $3,000 to repair the loader. Just one of a thousand stories this old boy has in his repertoire. Spring 1995. Beverly park ( in the file)

The bottom line is don’t be a gomer. Fly where it’s allowed, follow the rules. Shooting down someone’s drone is as foolish as the gomer flying it in unauthorized locations. Projectiles in the air is never a good thing. Geez

I’ve been studying up on this drone thing. Though the FAA controls licensing. Where you can and can’t fly them is all over the place. The drone people see it their way, the privacy people throw in the pedophile angle. Shotguns are frowned upon just about everywhere but there is the modified Montana 3S rule out there too. Shoot, Shovel (up the pieces) and Speed (away with the scrapped drone in the trunk). Anyone into magnet fishing?

What, Glenn? You haven’t seen the signs that read “Please don’t shoot the drones.” Typically they are posted right next to the ones that say “Please don’t feed the wildlife” or “Please Park only on paved areas.

Oregon State Parks information regarding drones: https://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=v.page&id=97

However, there's this: "Oregon doesn't have the authority to ban drones across an entire state park. But, officials said they can temporarily limit drones in specific places and situations. For example, drones are not allowed at Smith Rock during raptor nesting season (January through July)."

Put in this Context - Egg Rally at Public Park during the open trailer time, at an informal festive rally for Egg Campers. I did poll those attending and vintage TCT group. All that replied had no issues and enjoyed the video. Seems to be a popular thing to document these events. I don't own or have never flown a drone. I wouldn't appreciate one flying over my home.
