Best Book
The Big Rock Candy Mountain. By Wallace Stegner or The Masters by C.P. Snow although An American Tragedy by Theodore Dreiser is a favorite also.

Take book(s) of the genre you enjoy. On my Big Trip I read about a half-dozen different books/authors. Found plenty of stops to 'trade' books from laundry rooms to the Free Little Library book stand at the Blue Mounds State Park.

I take books I don't want to keep forever, and trade them at campground laundries, used book stores, etc. Since I read 3-4 per week, that, and my Kindle, are the only way I don't end up overloading the truck!

My Kindle is always full with “free” books from Bookbub.com. I like to be able to hit the delete button when complete. Also, I always keep my electronic library full with the maximum best sellers that I can put on the waiting list. Once caught on an international freight without enough reading material- never again!

Nowadays I don't take hard copy books with me; I just read ebooks on my tablet, fiction and nonfiction. And I have programming ebooks on the tablet which I use when programming on the laptop.

Hi: Vermilye... For us, we go to the library if were there for a stretch. Every one seems to have a used book store. While there a bit of back home news using their Wifi is a good deal too!!! Alf

I learned the hard way also about bringing sufficient reading materials. Years ago I was working offshore on a dredge ship in the Beaufort Sea and I made the mistake of only bringing one novel with me. After reading the same book cover to cover three times, I had enough of that and learned how to play ping pong on the table in the ships rec room.

Audio books from Libby or some other library app! I either read in my Kindle app or listen from the Libby app. (Libby is the app my library uses.)

I spent about six hours on an ice breaker in the Beaufort Sea which sounds like a great experience. Going forward breaking ice, backing up, going forward breaking ice, backing up, gets old in short order. Ended up below, watching satellite TV in the cafeteria.
