Campground Reviews
It’s a fact that my children somehow developed with a wicked sense of humor. They are all pretty computer savvy and like their Dad probably spend too much time looking at the screen. Today my oldest who has two doctorates in Psychology forwarded a site to me that she suggested I look at. It is called boredpanda.com. Scroll down a few entries and you will find 15 one star campground reviews each printed on an art drawing representing the National Park referred to in the review. I found it entertaining and if in fact these are actual reviews as claimed a rather sad commentary that human beings are in the pathetic state indicated by their review. I hope you enjoy.

Having spent 30 years working for the National Park Service, I chuckled more throughly than most. Nice post.

To be fair, some of the parks are a bit overhyped imho. For instance, to me Capitol Reef is nothing to write home about. And my one and only visit to Yellowstone made me think it was about to blow any minute. Not going back, nosirree. Beauty is in the beholder.

There is a lot of variation in people that’s for sure. Considering the alternative treatment that some of the beautiful land in America has undergone with mining, poor timber management, damage to the macrobiotic crust etc., I could never give a national park a one star rating. The history, unique environmental component and wildlife alone, to me elevate it well past a one star experience. A one star experience is overpriced average food in a cookie cutter restaurant which received an overrated review in a second rate food section of a very average local newspaper.

I meant "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Dang.
For instance-- recently I spent a few days at Pinnacles National Park in California. I wandered around, wondering why this place merited the designation. It's pretty alright, but so is much of California. Then I looked overhead and thought, "man, those are some mighty big buzzards." I found out later that Pinnacles is the home to the famous California Condor. That must have something to do with it. And they *are* big.

They are, all right. In Ventura County we have the Sespe Condor Refuge in the mountains in the north half of the county, so they are sometimes seen soaring even near the coast. The only bigger vultures in California are found in and around Sacramento.

The first time I visited Yellowstone I was disappointed. Mostly drove roads since we were so short on time. I thought it was overrated.
But the next 75 times were GREAT! That place rocks. Literally!
Every corner of the park is different.

And then we went to Zion and too many red rocks!
Though actually, that's my complaint about Yosemite. Too many gray rocks! No wonder Ansel Adams liked it for black and white photography. (Too many people, too.)

Favorite parks
My current favorite national park is Teddy Roosevelt. I just like the country, the wildlife and the geology. Can’t get enough of the buffalo and the wild horses. Side trips of 100 or so miles will get you to dinosaur country, historic Native American villages, Lewis and Clark interest
Points and more good looking country.

My 2 are the Badlands and Yosemite....I agree Yellowstone is hype and great for the bison/bears/wolves but not people. That said, it is supposed to be lovely in the winter.....

Do you guys consider Grand Teton to be a part of Yellowstone or separate?
Grand Teton often times has the sizzle people want when they get tired of Yellowstone. I kind of consider them one big park.
I love Grand Teton.

I agree Theodore Roosevelt np is a great park!! Badlands is also magnificent. North unit of Teddy Roosevelt is similar in the geographic vistas.
