In a country that uses the Imperial system of measurement, why not an actual Imperial gallon?
Not to confuse things further, but are you referring to a dry gallon or wet gallon?Apparently there is a difference there too.

our TR-6 (technically it was my wife-to-be's), had no Whitworth, and the previous owner was a engineer who'd added quite a bit of German Bosch to it, so the electrics were quite reliable. We sold it when we had our first kid.

My father had a peanut field 3/4 of a mile long. I had to walk that field pulling weeds in the hot Florida sun. He owned about 600 acres and farmed triple that in his prime. That's quite a bit for the Florida panhandle. I have 45 acres left of the farm, not enough for farming on my own so I rent it out.

And think of the misery it causes. Especially to the poor souls that wasted these taxpayer dollars.

From Wikipedia:
... However, on September 23, 1999, communication with the spacecraft was lost as the spacecraft went into orbital insertion, due to ground-based computer software which produced output in non-SI units of pound-force seconds (lbf·s) instead of the SI units of newton-seconds (N·s) specified in the contract.
...
The cost of the mission was $327.6 million...

My only reason for measuring twice is because I forgot the first time. [emoji16]

If I did it always, production would be greatly affected, as I take on average a couple hundred measurements a day.
