I like complex bitter brews and generally dislike sweet ones. there's so many new varieties of hops, that "IPA" is kind of a catchall for a wide range of styles. I consider Sierra Nevada's annual Celebration Christmas ale to be a 'red IPA'. Ditto Stone Brewing's Arrogant Bastard.

No that’s the beer you gave me and Eric consumed. Later when Eric was out of the mood we were at another rally I shared my fireball whiskey with you. The only downside was we didn’t have any glasses and you didn’t want your pristine lips to touch the bottle neck if I drank first so we lapped the whiskey out of those little pot luck swag Escape snack dishes like dogs. You drank like Lefty and I drank like Jake.
Then I burned mine in the fire.
Since then I got a set of stainless steel shot glasses which can be safely sterilized.

I bet that would be good over ice-cream. You haven't lived until you've had a beer float.

Beer floats were standard in our family when I was a yute coming of age. Also ice cubes in beer and of course the beer and a bump, depth charge, and other foolish combos. In the parking lot before an 8 hour shift on the hog kill running 642 an hour, it was peppermint schnapps fortified with black velvet whiskey. “Schnapps with a turbo” as it was called. We’d get tuned up and an hour later we would be yelling for the foreman to “turn up the dyne” cause it looked like everything was in slow motion. Yes we got cut once in a while. But we were “Makin Bacon”.

Seek....and ye shall find

Perusing the aisles of Woodman's, the local liquor locker grocery, I came across this, of all things. Had to give it a try.

Thanks to the Great Spirit that those supply chain issues are fading. 2,000 miles from Fort Bragg, CA to Madison, WI.

Sweet!

And just think diesel fuel is only $5.80 a gallon. ( in NE Indiana). But Great Lakes Christmas Ale issue from Cleveland is in the store. And pretty tasty.

It's funny that I came across this post as I sit here relaxing on a Friday afternoon sipping on my king can of Muskoka Brewery's Tread Lightly Ale; therefore, I toast each and every beer lover on the planet - "May your beers be cold and your suds frothy!!"

Benjamin Franklin

The men of the cloth were also firm in their beliefs.

That Great Lakes pivo is much, much more than $5.80 a gallon. What are you running on? Iowa corn ethanol? It works, at 85%, if your vehicle can handle it.

10% ethanol in the cars.

91 octane unleaded in the small engines including the 27 Kaw in the Z turn

Winter diesel all year long in the New Holland. Starts so nice. idles well, plenty of snort.

Corn based hooch, once in a while. Usually Canadian blended, rye, or our local award winner,
Cedar Ridge.

Hi Alf
We got a little weather reprieve so this week I’ll get my fiberglass stakes installed along the driveway to assist my snow removal efforts. About ready to start trimming some trees and I have some firewood to split and stack. Need to grease the tractor fittings on the loader. That way I won’t need it. I hope.

Late to this beer fest, I like a good IPA and have several in my fridge at the moment. The initial picture of OLD RASPUTIN and the motto "NEVER SAY DIE" got me to thinking, a very dangerous thing for me. The following is for your reading pleasure.

Thanks for the post Steven M. I had read up on this once years ago. By chance my boss and my Commissioner had seen some sort of a documentary on Rasputin about the same time and that’s where the staff meeting talk went that day. A more successful meeting than we usually had. Seems incredible that this all happened about a hundred years ago.
Hope you’re having a good fall and winter so far.

Yes I've had those beers from Split Rail and enjoyed s few nice fish and chip platters at their stand near Little Current. Amazing how many good beers are brewed on the island!! I also really like Manitoulin Brewing Co.'s SwingBridge Blonde Ale...

...may be because I just like blondes in general (Hope my wife doesn't see this message?)
