Heresy, I say! Humbug! Balderdash!

I'm not certain an a-political, consumerism based, non-Escape trailer post, a mere opinion, is a valid posting.
But I'll toast your effort. Salud! Centi Anni! Na Zdrowie! Cheers! And so on, ad infinitium.
I do have an infinity towards stouts, and porters. They're mostly twins, in flavor and creation.
But what's this thing about "Russian Imperial Stout"? Stout fellows? Not much, in my eye, these days.
Imperial? It seems so, these days.

(Ignore the geo-political opinions. I didn't start this.)

oh, you've never had Old Rasputin ? its black as coal, the head is dark chocolate brown. its a 10% imperial stout, really really good. slow sipping beer, one pint of that will last me all evening long. should be served cellar temp, 55-60F, not refrigerator cold. Brewed on the Mendocino Coast of Northern California.

I simply do not live in the neighborhood to enjoy an Old Rasputin. Nowhere near. But I'd be willing to try one.
Some say, there's methods to send me one, for purposes of extensive, critical & thorough evaluation. UPS, USPS, Fed Ex, come to mind. But do enjoy what you have.

Ein prosit!

oooh, they only ship direct in California :-/

some breweries will ship to a bunch of states. you usually have to use UPS Brown (ground) service

I usually gravitate to the IPAs, but enjoy many other craft brews. When it comes to stouts I particularly enjoy chocolate or coffee varieties. Love those. A good sour, gose, marzen, kolsch, hefeweizen, pumpkin, dubbel, trippel, etc is on my list too.

We’re fortunate to live in an area where the craft brew scene is vibrant. A trip around Labor Day to Asheville, NC was terrific as well. Lots of high quality stuff there too.

Great thread, John. Cheers!

Sounds great! If we ever get out your way, I would love to try it.

around here, its really easy to find very good very hoppy beers. its harder to find a good dark beer style. every brewery has a half dozen IPAs, and only maybe a decent dark beer.

I'm not a fan of sours, they taste like beer gone bad to me. and I don't much care for the lambics and stuff made with weird yeast. I generally dislike any beer made with adjuncts or flavoring stuff. gimme roasted whole grain malt, fresh water, and a pinch of yeast with ample hopping and i'm a happy camper.

Stouts are the devil's own brew, I say! And all the lesser demons drink IPAs!

I can get beer about anytime. As I age (gracefully) I don’t get other things I enjoy much.

You could tape a twenty on each one and I still wouldn't want one!
