So very sorry for your loss of Franklin. As a friend wrote to me upon the loss of one of our beloved pets: "The one thing about the human’s relative longevity is that we get to see lots of animal friends go through their whole lives before we make the same journey. And we are richer for having them in our lives for a while and in our memories for ever."

May your fond memories of all your journeys together give you comfort and peace.

Please accept our condolences. It’s never easy to lose a loved one. What a good life you gave him.

I know it’s not much consolation but try not to forget that 14-11/12 years is a pretty good run.

It’s tough but it’s what we sign up for. In the end, after all they’ve given us we owe them that final act of kindness. I’m sure it wasn’t easy but I’m sure you made the decision with love.

Our dogs never live long enough. Someone once said, "I aspire to be the person my dog thinks I am".

So sorry for your loss Jim. Your poem definitely got our tears going. As lab owners ourselves, we know what a huge void our fur babies leave when they're gone. Your heart aches right now, but as time passes you'll remember the good times that will put a smile on your face again.

We have just gotten our new 17B home from Chilliwack but following this forum for a few months has given me a true feeling of community. So much so that the loss of your Franklin has been a loss for me as well. I guess all of us who are or have been dog families understand that moment of reckoning. So sorry to hear the news.

Very sorry for your loss, I know in time the great memories you have from those 40,000 miles will far out weigh the sadness.
You sound like us, rescue. I know Franklin would want you to save another one of his brothers or sisters and give them a good home.

Happier times ahead.

So sorry for you about Franklin. I get heartache now thinking about losing our Golden Retriever Zeke not long ago. There are good reasons that we call them "man's best friend". Blessings to you in your grieving, friend.

We are so sorry. Our fur babies are just such a huge part of our hearts, aren't they? Franklin was fortunate to be rescued by a loving family, and I know you will cherish the many memories you made together.

I am really sorry Jim. All of us pet owners/lovers understand how much a part of our families they are.

I still grieve the passing of my four Corgis, Ira, Hank, Jack, and Rosie but celebrate their life with me for about 14 years each. In my experience, the pain never goes away but it becomes less sharp, the good memories rise and dull the pain of the loss.
