The Interesting Foods Thread

Per a comment in a thread about serious discussions of topics at hand, such as seals, this thread is for those serious food discussions that we find so important that they override lesser subjects.

1st entry is one of our favorites, and part of the best meal we had on a recent trip along the western 1000 mile segment of I-40.

Animal Fries, found only here!

The reason I included the comment about I-40 was that we were very disappointed in the meal opportunities along the stretch of I-40 from Barstow to almost Amarillo. We selected some places close to I-40, with Yelp 4-5 star ratings, and none were close to our expectations. Just talked with a young friend in the Air Force who is stationed at the eastern edge of New Mexico, and he concurs: there's apparently a dirth of fresh food in that corridor. (He experiences the same on base!).
But, we love In-n-Out!

Don't have any idea what that is Alf, but it looks yummy.

Here's a "little" cinnamon roll from Lulu's Cafe here in San Antonio:

Since we are on the topic of food, tomorrow I am going to make sauerkraut. I have about nine beautiful heads of cabbage in the garden ready to go. I only make a couple of gallons where my grandparents would have 3, 50 gallon stone jars of kraut fermenting in their root cellar. And I still use grandma's kraut cutter which is over 100 years old and in perfect condition. Loren

Yum. Love homemade Sauerkraut Loren. There's a little German place in Fredericksburg that does a fabulous job. Pair it with a homemade Brat and some German mustard, and it's hard to beat.

What's all that white stuff? It's not cinnamon.
Soley's Deli in Vancouver has the best, voted best cinnamon bun in the area. It takes me an hour or more to drive over and back to get them.

Get a grip, Bob. Some of us are not cool with sidetracking threads with this off topic drivel.

Does Scotch constitute food?
I think not.
But beer, that's the bread of life. Grains, sugar, water, yeast.

My rivets were all tight until I ate that 'In and Out Burger' and drank that huge coke. Now they are all loose and leaking .....

Just got back from New Brunswick, Cn where we pigged out on seafood and poutine. We stayed at a quaint cg where ou had to take a ferry to/from the mainland, my first time with the camper. The cg was on the St. John's river about 20 miles from St. John.
