These instructions cause death!

Death by laughter, that is...

Oh, how did I live so long?!

Yeah, but you just know if they didn't put that warning on a blowtorch, and some moron fell asleep while using it and burned their house down, some lawyer would sue for inadequate warning labels.

Shakespeare was right.

I always notice the label on the camper stoves that say “Not to be used for comfort heating”.
Our standing joke early in the morning is “Better cook something up and warm this joint up” How about a can of soup? French toast on the griddle usually wins and heats things right up and the camper police can’t touch us. Been doing that for 47 years.

And California will tell you that materials used to make the propane torch will cause cancer. I don't know how-- maybe you have to lick it or something.

Normally, for a lot of things, I don't bother to read the instructions. But I find myself now reading them more. Not because I don't know what to do but to see how many stupid improbable warnings there are.

They go hand in hand with some of the people that use them Had a young fellow at work cutting a floor out of a shipping container, I set the depth of cut on the circular saw for him and let him go with a few instructions. I came back 5 min later and he had readjusted the depth of cut and cut through some of the steel joist on the container and said the saw blade was dull. $1000 to repair the damage, his last day in the repair department.

Hi: Iowa Dave... But can you use the "Camper stove" for "Comfort food"? Alf

There is no instruction that the consumer has to worry about. Read the label. It says not to remove prior to sale.

Yes, but it's a standard joke here in the US. That's because they put "Do not remove under penalty of law" in big bold letters, and the part that says "except by consumer" or similar used to be in small print, or wasn't there at all.

I was doing some straightening up before Christmas and took a lot of items to shelters, church sponsored second hand stores etc. I had a very nice baby bed mattress that was about ten years old but used very little. We just bought a new one on Black Friday so I thought someone could use the older one. Nope. Nobody will take a mattress anymore.
Reason: Bedbugs. So off to the landfill it went. It still even had the tag and was nicely plastic covered.
