This can not be good.....

I always thought cats and possums were mortal enemies, the feral cat we feed outside had some company....

I’d rather have the possum. They eat ticks. Feral cats around here only dig in the flower gardens. I heard the fine author Joe House speak a couple times. His best selling book was Possum Trapping by the Millions. He’s as funny as any tv comedian with perfect timing and a great delivery. Nice guy too.

I have both feral cats and possums. They live n let live one controls the ticks n one takes care of the field mice haven’t seen a tick or mice around my home in 15 yrs unless the cats bring one up to the porch to show they’re on the job lol. As far as digging in the flower beds, I put a big pile of sand in the corner of the yard n they leave the beds alone

We had a landscape architect on staff and without reviewing a design with the director, slipped a sand pile/sand box in on the corner of a new park playground. The big boss was not happy when the moms started calling in, complaining about what their kids found in the sandbox. Out it came.

Living in the south I often hear that possums are “good eatin’.” But I don’t plan to find out!

Me neither. They are needy things too. Able to climb pretty well, they are lazy.
“Raccoon in de Simmon trree
Possum on de ground
Possum say to de raccoon
Throw them Simmons down!
Sounds best when sung in a gravely baritone voice by a man who’s actually eaten persimmons. Like:
