The max tow package may increase GCWR to enable a higher trailer weight, and with most vehicles the tongue weight rating just goes up with that, regardless of the actual ability to handle weight on the hitch; it may also include equipment (hitch, brake controller) that won't matter to tongue weight. Payload packages are more relevant to tongue weight, since they typically increase rear axle capacity and suspension stiffness.

That's very true. It's more a function of payload. But my guess is he can try it without the WDH and see how it goes.

Sorry my brain's a little fried. Just spent the last hour on the Escape Owners Facebook page with a new owner, explaining that no, you can't run your air conditioning using the inverter.

So, there were 4 trucks, all 2020s, all with similar equipment. None of the deals worked out. The dealers who had them didn't respond at all to my dealers inquiries. Wound up having to order a truck again. This will be the 3rd truck in a row that I've ordered. The good news is, Ford Credit will extend my current lease as long as is needed until the new truck arrives. Just had to call and give them the order number.

I'll miss out on the larger rebate of the 2020, but at least it'll be the exact truck I want.

If you're in the market for an F150 XLT with a V8, max tow package, max payload package and 4WD, there are hundreds to choose from in Texas alone. If you want the Lariat 4x2 SuperCrew with an Ecoboost V6, good luck finding it right now on a dealer lot.

And, finally, only 4 months late, my truck arrived. Ford extended the lease on the old one hassle free. And my dealer did some creative work with the lease return to give me what amounted to a nice discount on the new one. It essentially involved me exercising the purchase option on the leased truck, and immediately trading it in to the dealer. It worked because the used truck market is very hot right now and my leased truck was worth far more than the residual. Through this paperwork sleight of hand I actually got equity on a leased vehicle. Nice.

Some of the bells and whistles are in different places on this new one, and the pro trailer backup assist is also a bit different, so it will take some getting used to. Click image for larger version

Is that a 2021? Mine looks exactly like this. The white color makes a nice match with the camper.
