Velcro? Wasn't that invented during the Napoleonic Wars by the British navy?

I was talking with my brother today. We were talking about Velcro. Among other things. He told me he understood that someone encountered the fruiting weed body called a cockleburr
stuck tightly in their clothing or their long haired dog, both of which had happened to us when we hunted wild game together many years ago. Close examination of the fruiting body, the burr, and it’s natural hook design then became copied by NASA scientists. But hey what do we know? I just thought I ought to post the joke, given to me by an 80 year old guy in Pennsylvania. Couple days of rain coming but I have a good place to work inside getting the 21 ready to go.

Velcro inventor was a Swiss engineer

The rest of the story:
https://invention.si.edu/george-de-m...elcro-inventor

I'd read that the US Dept. of Defense was working on developing "stealth", silent Velcro for use by the military. Makes some sense.
A Gripping tale, if it's true.

Velcro

Pop up Hunting blinds have become popular in the past few years. The early ones almost
Always had Velcro closures on the windows . And the game ran away when they heard the ripping sound. Now most all of them have little magnets that are much quieter. I don’t own one
Personally, but I do have a pop up Ice fishing tent. (Insulated). The bluegills don’t seem to mind Velcro. Glad folks had fun with this post. Sorry if you took it seriously.

Me neither but on a clear day after an overnight rain I can see 80 as I gasp for air after climbing a small rise on the prairie that looks dead flat to folks from Colorado.
