I have 4 years of work before I can retire. I need a bargain anyway, since I'm considered self employed and my "retirement plan" is basically just Social Insecurity. Keeping my eyes open and my wits about me.
Hi: Mike G... We bought our first Escape 5 yrs. before retirement. That meant I had 5 yrs to pay for it... and one year into retirement we bought our second Escape. That wasn't a plan it just happened that way and I'm glad it did!!! Alf

It's my understanding, inventory units are scheduled into the the increased production line as a buffer to test the new format. If there are any productions delays, the inventory units are dropped. The pre-ordered units have priority and it allows Escape to guarantee delivery as per scheduled request. This prevents delivery delays for pre-ordered units...which would probably not go over very well.
Still looking at Escape to replace our 2006 Surveyor.

Having spent a career in manufacturing, I can say without a doubt that the fastest way to get a number of units to market is to standardize them. It sounds like they have a plan to up production and I can’t hold that against them. I would not be surprised if “highly customized units” take considerably longer in the future than production runs. It’s not the end of the world.

I guess we knew we could not have Tammy and Reace forever and that things would change in a big way. What this new "business model" is doing for me is I am no longer lusting for a 21' and will continue to be happy with our 2009 19'.

Seems the issue or concern was not that inventory units were being built, but rather that they were offered up in a lottery which could have someone who just put a deposit down rather than offering it up to the next buyer in the line closest to that model and configuration. Kind of that first come first serve thingee......

Sounds like a major change in how this once customer focused company is now going to market. You're either forced to buy the heavily optioned "production" units now at a higher price point or simply hand over your hard earned cash ($2,000 USD) "interest free" as ransom for a 2 1/2 years to buy one that fits your needs and if you back out after 2 1/2 years because they increased their prices to extreme levels they will then scam you out of another $150 USD to get your money back.

For example: the 21NE we would prefer is $31,400 USD in 2021. We don't need to spend another 10 Grand on foam bottoms, off grid NASA engineered solar, high tech lithium batteries, new age refrigeration technology etc. We just want a unit with air conditioning, a stove, a regular old refrigerator and a window in the bathroom.

We're really are not asking for much. Honestly, their 2 1/2 year production delays are not "delays" they are simply driving up their price of their units while telling you it's because of production delays.

Is that about right?
Frankly, I'm feeling honored to be still be in the group waiting on this new Escape gift. I toasted my arotic valve during a childhood illness and of course the valve gave up the ghost in the Covid year. Spent the past year waiting on a vacine & for surgeries to get to a safe point again. Covid with a severely damaged aortic valve carries a 10 times greater death rate than the average 60 plus year old with combidities. It was a certain thing what would happen if I got infected.
So now I'm lucky to be just waiting on this gift, instead of waiting for my new heart valve, as well. I got my new valve May 5th. Two weeks now & hiking 10 miles a day and feeling great again. There are different levels of patience.

How do you like your 21NE? There are none out in CA. I did look at the 19 and was told the layout is very similar.
