Self opening vent
5.0 5th wheel; The emergency exit vent over the bed opens while traveling.
Has anyone found a way to keep it from opening while towing. My concern is the vent opening while towing in the rain.

Personally, after many a hundred nights out with our 5.0TA this has never been a problem. We are on day 73 of our current trip and it has been used many times for ventilation at night. Other trips too.
Is there anything operating it that doesn't seem right?

The vent opens and close smoothly. It opens when traveling at highway speeds, when we stop after a few hours the vent is open. I’ve tried cranking it a little tighter closed and still it vibrates open, full open.

I've had zero problems with the one in my 5.0TA, but the one in my Scamp would open every single trip! I finally gave up and used a rubber band between the handle and the red escape latch. Not a fix for the problem, just a band-aid.

Great minds think alike, I was just going to suggest Donna's idea. The handle can easily be placed at an angle that works best.
Says Jim laying on the bed in his trailer looking at the vent as he types. [emoji16]

Never had this problem on our 5.0 either. On the other hand, our MaxxFan cover closes while traveling and we wish it would stay open

Gino - not sure what model MaxxFan you have but we have the manual model 6200K and if you push the black knob upwards it locks the lid in place. Wondering if this might be your issue. The auto opening models have the knob but they cannot be locked.

Thanks for that! It may indeed be user error (like that has never happened!). Picking it up tomorrow for a months worth of fall camping. I’ll give it a go. Appreciate the tip.
