Springfield Missouri hospitals are filling up with unvaccinated COVID patients, but believe what you want, just don’t come near me. End of opinion and replies.

Yes, it sounds like you’re better off staying skared in Ohio…

If this thread continues to devolve into another vaccine/no vaccine debate, it'll be closed. The subject is the border closure, and when/if it will be opened. Thanks.

an FYI about the US>Canadian entry process

Just an FYI about the process, as of today, August 9, 2021, for US citizens wanting to enter Canada as an RV-ing tourist per recent Canadian policy announcements ...

One can use the ArriveCAN tool (there's browser and app-based versions) to submit the required
  • Proof of acceptable vaccination
  • Proof of acceptable negative covid test within 72-hours prior to entry
I was curious to see if that system would allow submittal of the first requirement (and give indication of acceptability of that item) in advance of a future planned entry. So, I registered on the site (easy and verified by email reply) and proceeded to the next step.

Nope, one cannot do anything further toward preparing for an entry more than 72 hours in the future. If unable to provide crossing location, date, and time occurring within 72-hours of attempting to fill-in the form, one is instructed to exit the tool and return when within the required 72-hour time-window relative to one's anticipated entry to Canada.

Not complaining, it is what it is, and I can understand them not wanting to clutter the system with a bunch of anticipatory data. But it does, IMO, add an element of uncertainty for we inclined to find comfort in a bit longer-range trip plans and preparation.

I do look forward to again enjoying wonderful Canada as an RV-ing tourist sooner than later, and appreciate steps the Canadian government is taking to make that possible.

Again, just sharing the experiment / experience FYI.

What's the US policy on American tourists returning from Canada?

As far as I can tell US citizens are currently allowed to return to the US at Canadian-border land crossings, but here's a link to a starting point for definitive information:
U.S. Department of State - international travel information

Canada Welcoming US Vaccinated Citizens.

The Canadian border is open to fully vaccinated Americans. This article on from the CBC website seems to indicate businesses are ready for tourists. The photo seems to indicate that there is some pent up demand to come to Canada. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamil...sses-1.6134550
A benefit to Americans who choose to get vaccinated. Lets hope everyone stays healthy. Welcome back to Canada. (I guess as a good Canadian I should say sorry it took so long

Thanks for the welcome and IMO not you, or any Canadian, owes an apology for the timing.

I look forward to the day when we can once again extend similar welcome to our Canadian neighbors.

This thread is about the Canadian/USA northern border crossing. NOT the USA southern border crossing. Please stay focused.

I almost hate to resurrect this thread but we are thrilled to be in Sioux Falls SD tonight on our way to visit family at Fort Leavenworth. The US opened to us Canadians for non-essential visits yesterday. At 11:30 on Sunday night our border crossing south of town had a line of snowbirds awaiting the midnight opening. I wonder how far some went that night!

Yeah, the crossings here from Ontario to Michigan were reportedly backup up real bad with snowbirds trying to get out of Canada before winter arrives.

I work with some guys who live in Canada, so they cross all the time. "Winter is coming"

Hey Adrian,
Keep going south and stay ahead of the weather. When you start seeing armadillo road kills, break a sweat checking the tires. And see pecans for sale in roadside stands you’re probably in the clear for a little while. Hope you have a good visit. Sorry the gasoline is higher now but Kwik Stars kids need new sneakers for basketball season.

Snowbirds rush to Florida.
*hunkers down*

Should have been in the Pensacola area last night. I saw the SpaceX Dragon capsule re-entry and it was great!

Yes I knew you were near Topeka, we'll be passing through there in Feb on our way from AZ to Fort Leavenworth.
