Can I tow my new 19 without registration in CA?

I have my 19' delivered in May and I have not been able to register it because DMV has been closed due to Covid-19. The local DMV office says that I have to wait until new appointment for DMV is available. So, my 19' is just sitting in my backyard after a short weekend, testing camping. So, I am wondering what those new owners in CA are doing? Are you towing it without registration in CA? Have you done anything, like talking to CHP (California Highway Patrol) before you travel? I cannot find any information on this anywhere...

Call again. They should be able to give you a 60 day permit in the meantime. it took me 8 months to get my first trailer registered in California and nobody ever questioned that I was pulling it with expired out of state license plates or looked at the permit (which I had renewed 3x.) They mailed that permit to me, no reason they can't do that now.

I had trouble with my Calif registration as well--it took over 3 months. In that time, I traveled from BC to my home, and from my home to Maine. I just kept the paperwork from Escape (bill of sale, import documents, etc) in the car. I was never stopped or asked for it.

Many people have stopped at the MT. Shasta DMV and actually left with registration and plates. It might be worth a call to them to see what their status is.

Good luck!
