We would be attending a granddaughters wedding May 9th followed by our heading out to Osoyoos. Looks like we won't make either!

I forgot, I would be eagerly awaiting the wire put on my new coyote fencing for the back yard (was supposed to start yesterday). If it ever warms up here I'm going to clean the back of the garage so I can at least sleep in the trailer, looking out, and enjoy a pseudo-campout! (Back has a garage door but right now also contains piles of stuff! Original plan was to be able to roll the trailer out the back- but only the front got a new door so now just looking out the old door will have to do,)

I'm surprised you have a coyote problem living on an island?

It's a big island, lots of coyotes, lots of deer. No bears- well, rarely, one swam over as part of a tour of Island and San Juan counties last year. One lonely elk. My house backs up on a tidal lagoon and we see a lot of coyote traffic scavenging along the shore. So after dusk the dogs only go out after I scan the back with a spotlight and then I stand and watch ( I do have a fence, but only 4 feet high.) Recently I've seen coyotes after sunrise, too, so they don't go out alone until about 9 am.

Should the island be able to refuse vacation home owners? Tough call. As Dave noted, they are tax payers & owners, however if the pandemic reaches the island, the hospital will quickly be overwhelmed with little alternatives. As of today, there are five confirmed cases on the island.

Spoke with friends who live in Mashpee on the Cape and it seems the towns have figured out a way to stop the flood of people who are trying to get to their second homes on the Cape -- all electric, water and phone (re)connections have been halted. And I believe she said hotels and AirBnBs are not to rent out their properties. (Note: I also think my friend mentioned their only hospital has 90 beds ... total.)

There are numerous people volunteering their RVs to healthcare workers for self-isolating while at home.

I've been on the RVs 4 MDs site as well and it's amazing how many people are stepping up. We've offered ours to our daughter in case she feels vulnerable but, for now, the chaos is still manageable at her hospital.

Actual pace would be about 4:50min/km for 42.2km. Can you still keep up on foot?

I run a skilled nursing facility in WA We have no COVID in our facility but we are on lock down You wouldn't believe the amount of new regulations and emergency meetings we have. With sick or non working employees and lack of protective gear it is a challenging time I'm exhausted - I wish i could stay home a few days! Everyone i know is home and board. But we are all doing what we can to stop the virus!

I'd planned a 3-season trip north through Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina, then on up the eastern seaboard to Toronto, visiting family and friends along the way and taking ferries wherever possible before returning to Texas in the fall. Now, I'm thankful to be sheltering with my daughter until it's safe enough to travel. Like pretty much everyone else, I'll play it by ear after that. Stay safe, everyone!

Yup. The virus can't travel if you don't.

There are a few people who are full timers on this forum. Red Dog and I think a few others. Does anyone know how they are doing? I hope that they are able to find some place safe to hunker down until we get through this.

I'm sure they are someplace warmer and more comfortable than being holed up in your house and not allowed to travel except for necessities.

If the virus hadn't happened I'd be.....with my wife doing 4 days in Vancouver, then a cruise to Hawaii and ending with 4 days in Honolulu. I've never been to Hawaii.
