How are you holding up?

Although I am going to feel the impacts of Covid19 and the subsequent economic fallout for years to come in my work, in the cost of living, and in the increases in taxes that are inevitable; for the moment the pandemic has not had a crippling impact on me. I am normally a bit of an introvert and social isolation for the most part seems hardly noticeable to me. I do miss seeing my kids the most, although video chats, telephone calls, and texting really go a long way to stay in touch. I am still going in to the office every day, it is like a ghost town around there most days, but I am fortunate to still be working. I get outside running nearly every day and have not had to change that habit at all. I did do a 42.2 km run on my own a week ago to make up for the Boston Marathon being postponed. I am continuing to train with a dim hope that the rescheduled Boston race will go ahead in Sept. I have a back-country hiking trip in June on the Berg Lake Trail that is almost sure to be cancelled. I have campgrounds booked in Banff on the July long weekend and labor day long weekends that are in jeopardy. I also have a back-country canoe trip on Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park that is also in jeopardy. I sure do hope that things start opening up again so that we do not have to miss out on a whole season of fun.

We're doing fine.

My wife is working from home, so that's beneficial for the time being. Me...I'm retired so nothing really changed there beyond my wife being home through the day.

We'd ordered a 21NE back in January and we were concerned that construction would be delayed. We were notified by ETI about 2 weeks ago that things were pushed back due to this Chinois virus, with a guesstimate of late June from May 7th.

Yesterday we did a social distance birthday thing with my daughters and grandkids. When we got home the big surprise for the day was ETI had notified WITH photos, that our new trailer was under construction. We're elated. It looks like worst case...end of May...a month earlier than we figured after the update.

So we've gone from being fine to very excited in quick time.

wow, that news is worth bouncing up and down for! Getting pictures is SO exciting. Only a few more weeks till the real thing.

Yes, they have a bunk installed on the display model, handy if you have kids.

I am full-timing in a nice RV park and this is the best place to be during a pandemic. I can go for walks with my dog and see other people. And I can chat, well over 6 feet apart, with people who are sitting outside their trailer in nice weather. There's a few people here with respiratory problems because this is the safest place they can be - fresh air and a quiet life.

I am fortunate in that I have retirement income (like many of us I presume), and I live in the almost perfect place to ride this out: I'm ten miles from the nearest town and my closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away over an open field. Also, I'm psychologically suited to being alone for long periods; I don't need much face-to-face human contact. I have enough projects to keep me busy at home for the foreseeable future. Observations:

- I seem to be saving money. This is almost certainly because I rarely drive anywhere. I have filled my gas tank once since returning from the West Coast on March 24. Also, I don't eat out anymore, of course. I'm sure that helps.

- I haven't had a haircut since February. I sort of like being a hippy; I may put it in a pony tail at some point.

- Yesterday's trip to the grocery store was three weeks after the previous one. With any luck at all I might make it a month on what I bought yesterday. This could turn into a new habit.

- The only soft soap I could find when buying groceries has lavender and some other fragrance in it. Now I smell like a girl.

My investments manager recently told me we lost around $23K when the market flopped, my pension fund just wrote me not to expect any increases in my pension since they are also taking a big hit. But on the good side we got the gummit confidence builder in the mail last week. My sister is mailing me a hand-made mask in case the one I got wears out. Feeling much better, virus king.

Where I live there are few people therefore far fewer virus victims than most states. Exception would be the Navajo nation areas where they are really hurting. We do have plenty of non-masked numb-nuts in the super market here, (who doesn't?) -but the shelves are good. I take three walks around the yard every day. I guess we are doing better than most.

I wish I was in Newfoundland.

Because the dildo-brains at Amazon fired several whistle blowers for having the nerve to call them out for bad protection from the virus, and the head ditto-head fired his best virus-study technician I planned to boycott Amazon and return that check. But, I caved on both counts. Bought beer too. I am such a wuss.

I got in a little trouble with the lady of the house today pontificating about the violent acts that I would like to see befall on numerous people. She says I spend too much time on devising torture and retribution. Personally I don’t think so. Got my 029 Farm Boss running like a champ today. Needed an air filter, fuel filter and for the heck of it I put in a new spark plug. Gave it a thorough cleaning and shined it up. Looks like new. I had a pretty good sized mulberry stump near one of my Colorado blue spruce so I buzzed it off and put it in the fire ring. Saw ran like new. Treated my white ash (Fraxinus americana Autumn Purple cv. for borers today with Imidicloprid and played with my new Bosch router. Have a new wren in the west house on the porch, thinking about raising the rent on him just because I can. Had a rooster pheasant displaying in the back yard last night, when he left I let Jake look for him. Took about 15 seconds for him to find him. It’s constant crowing out here right now, lots of birds in the CRP ground. Hurts me to see the 21 sheltering in place each time I go into the Escape Garage. But I’m not going out among them, don’t need that.

Bonuses today. This morning daughter dropped off a generator and a chain saw they said stopped working n didn’t want anymore. Generator 5500 watt, put in new plug, cleaned fuel bowl, adjusted float, cleaned tank put in fresh gas 2nd pull purrs like a kitten. Chain saw 16 inch poluan new plug fixed the kill switch,went n cut down a couple junk trees down by the creek. Love new free toys
