My dad tells a story about him and his brothers trying to smoke catalpa pods. I don’t think it was very successful or enjoyable.

These grits you cook for 15 minutes, not instant grits but I did not grind the corn either

Thumbs up

Best tasting cherries ever. I do not know why, but it seems some of our best tasting foods come from central valleys, be it California, or Oregon, or Washington. Is it the water or the soil? Today I had some cherries from Chelan, Wa. plump, juicy, and delicious......

Today I went overboard, watch out Steve D, I had some sausage gravy over Hormel corned beef hash with grilled onions and eggs mixed in served over BUTTERmilk biscuits, butter capitalized as there was a lot of butter used in the cooking. I'm also going to test powdered eggs and Gatorade since neither require refrigeration and both have long shelf life. That will be the next post. But back to today:

Hi: All... Just harvested my Garlic Scapes. Processed them into a semi smooth paste to freeze for Garlic butter thru the season. Made a Hummus too. Processed them with chic peas, lemon juice, zest, cumin, salt& pepper and a heaping TBSP of Mayo. Great with tostitos, chips or crackers!!!
With enough of this it's easy to keep your distance. Alf

When you come back out to the PNW, you'll have to stop at the Mountain View Diner in Gold Bar, WA. It's right on US 2. Order the Big Chief, it's worth it.
