Rallies and Covid-19

Assuming a rally does not get cancelled, what ideas do people have for handling it?

Potlucks- sitting six feet apart is do-able though it might limit the numbers of attendees- although the outbreak will do that anyway. Safe food prep? It's recommended not to do community meals (CDC, I believe.) Ideas?

Other concerns?

Maybe just getting together for a campfire and libations would keep things OK. Although things could be totally different in a month.

Good idea. Or things like bring your own meal but enjoy the company.

IF the Spring NOG goes forward, at this point I will be cancelling the two 'food' group gatherings. It would probably be more like individually camping and getting together with friends... but staying 6' apart in a whole bunch of sites, rather than one. It may be weird, but that's the only way I can see it happening under the current conditions.

That's probably what we will do if the parks stay open- come if you want, we can have well-spread out campfires, but limit group events. They haven't said it but there was a number for asking for refunds on the website so it may be they are waiving penalties or anticipating closure. The Fort Casey rally is <50 and likely <25 people so unless they drop the rule to 10 we may be good with campfires.

I have to agree. I have a number of rally scheduled between now & June, but I won't be making my blueberry pies, and plan to just gather rather than share. I'm still hoping I can fine sites between here (upstate Louisiana) & Townsend for the month until their gathering. It is still 1400 miles to home...

It would be good to think of some creative ways to be safely social! (In a gathering, we already know the other kind..)

Take care of yourself. That's a long way from home to get sick and handle it by yourself !
Best of luck, stay healthy !

Jon: Not sure if you are headed east towards Georgia but Steve just posted this with an offer to stay on his properties if needed...

Interesting concept about the internet, designed for social groups and information, it became the bane of modern socializing, but now with the current situation, it has become what it was designed for.....

Oh, and I forgot to note, the Townsend rally has been cancelled. The KOA is closing down until April 20 I believe

Boogey for home like Mike just did, Jon. Hunker down when you get there and be safe.

Hi: All... Hoping this "Virus" doesn't tire us, and by Sept 18-20th. it's just a co-vivid nightmare. If necessary I will adjust the event to fit the current situation.
Keep a safe distance. Alf

Hey Alf, When does Riverside close, if they do? If it was pushed into October, are they open?

I think somebody said we’d be good to go by Easter so September shouldn’t be a problem.

It breaks my heart to think of so many full-timers who gave up their sticks-and-bricks homes who are out on the road with nowhere to settle! Greg's advice seems solid, as the situation across America is likely to worsen before it gets better. That said, this report offers hope as average temperatures rise above 52 degrees (Fahrenheit).

Many prayers for your safety, Jon!

Of course as this part of the globe warms toward summer, the other is cooling toward winter.
Happens every year, so we can expect a return of the virus next winter.
