12 volt compressor

I'm in the market for a 12 volt compressor to carry along with us, both to keep the tires inflated and to pressurize the airbags on the helper springs on the truck.

I've been looking at this model:

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...2520_200362520

and wondered it anyone has experience with it...or can recommend a different product.

Thanks in advance;
Dave

I got a Viair 00073 70P Heavy Duty Portable Compressor from amazon. You can read the reviews on the site or any Viair gets good reviews.

Re: 12 volt compressor

I read this thread and immediately went to Amazon to get one of those! I love the idea of being able to inflate the tires wherever I need to do it!

I have this one:

I really like the cordless (battery operated) type since reaching the trailer tires (especially the spare) is difficult at best with a corded air compressor.

Re: 12 volt compressor

I just got the 'Goodyear" compressor noted above. I haven't tried it yet (UPS guy came too late (they should always use FedEx ), but I wanted to note a couple of things.
  • From everything I could see, this is a re-badged Vlair unit.
  • The power cord is 10' long and it comes with a coiled 16' hose, so I don't think it will have any problem reaching either around the trailer or to the air bags or tires on the truck.
  • The unit is small enough to stow easily.
  • There is a little LED flashlight on one end which should be handy, but I wish it had illumination for the pressure gauge on top.
  • The unit seems sturdy enough, but only time will tell.
I will update this post as we go along, with a noise report sometime later today.
