There are two kinds of upper lights.

Trailers over 2 metres (80") wide are required to have wide-vehicle lamps:
  1. a group of three lamps together in the middle of the trailer, usually at the top (and that's where Escape puts them) to identify the vehicle as wide, and
  2. clearance lamps at the extreme left and right of the rear, separate from the tail lamps.
The 17' is the only current model of Escape which is narrow enough that it is not required to have these lamps... and it doesn't have them. The other models have them, as required. These ID and clearance lamps are on with the tail and side marker lamps.

A different feature is a set of lamps which duplicate the stop/turn lamps, but mounted higher. By using larger lamps in the top corners of the rear, Escape can cover both the clearance function and the extra stop/tail function, and it seems from the lack of an option that it is now a standard feature for the larger models.

The Features page for the 21' includes
Quote:
Rear Upper LED Brake & Signal Lights
... and the Features page for the 19' includes
Quote:
Rear Upper Brake/Signal Lights
... but 5.0TA features list doesn't list it.

Since the upper ID and clearance lights are not required on the 17', it makes sense to me that the extra upper stop/turn lamps are optional. The Options list for the 17' includes
Quote:
Additional Set Rear Upper LED Brake/Signal Lights $150.00
... and the provided pictures don't show upper lamps.

I also have a 17B on order, originally with an Apr 22 date, and received the same email today. And I have to reply tomorrow! Can I semi-hijack the thread to ask a couple of questions?
1). I won't be able to pick it up any earlier I believe Escape will store it, but is final payment due when it's finished or when you pick up?
2). I'm going g with custom fabric, Formica, and flooring. Does anyone know how long it takes Pioneer to get the flooring, and for ETI to get the Formica in?
Thanks!! And congrats, Julie!! Suddenly things are getting very real very fast!!

Brian,
For the 5.0TA Escape has the lights as "Rear Upper Brake/Signal Lights" but have it listed under Electrical on the features page rather than Exterior as they did with the 19 and 21. I almost missed it too.

Exciting!!!
Best way is to phone Pioneer and order your flooring. They can tell you how long delivery will take.
The same with the custom fabric. Phone from whoever you order, ask to send it right away to ETI. ETI has to send the fabric to the company that does this for them, and always want this ahead of time.
The Formica goes through ETI. Just put it on your choice on the build sheet.
Payment is when you pick up your trailer. (As long as ETI didn't change this policy)

I too would omit the bathroom sink if it saves any money. We've never used ours.

$60.00 for a foot flush toilet instead of a hand flush toilet seems to me like something you could do without.

You're right, "Happy wife, happy life" but how does a foot flush accomplish this?

We've had the regular hand flush toilet for years and decided the $60 Canadian wasn't worth not doing. No savings there.
Now that she has the foot flush, it is her favorite option that we got. Something in the female differences that I'm not equipped to explain.
I will admit that I really find it to be a very nice option from the male perspective as well now that I've experienced it.
For us, with the $40 US to add this option, we would definitely not be without it.

Who would have thought a foot flush toilet could put marriage counsellors out of work?

Thanks for mentioning the range hood. I removed it on my Casita but hadn't thought of it for my new 17B.

I see no advantage in removing the range hood in a 17B. It is right next to the bath wall so there are no sight lines to improve, and you will have no place for fridge magnets.

Yep. And no chance to mod it so it's quiet and vents well either...[emoji23]

I've only used the range fan a couple times since almost all cooking is done outside. I run the MaxxFan if heating water for coffee so that the smoke alarm doesn't go off.
I'd consider the mod if I regularly used the fan.

Yeah, but that's the thing...You'd use it more if it was modded. [emoji23]

That is a 19, not a 17B. I pointed out on the 17B that the bath wall obstructs any sight lines. So there is a benefit on your 19, but the OP is asking about a 17B and in my opinion there is no benefit in eliminating it.
