Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

Well....after a late night (Saturday) pulling the molds off the plug....everything looks great! When the mold comes off the plug, the finish is dull so today was spent polishing them up to a shine. Sorry, no pictures. The next photos will be of the first part coming out of the molds... which will be Wednesday evening. Hoo Hoo!

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

I am not sure where I stand in the order, but am slated for the first week of May for completion. I have a two week trip planned in Oregon leaving the last weekend of May. I too am getting excited about this.

Hi Ellen, and welcome. Do you have a trip planned yet? You know you will be required to submit reports on your assessment of your new trailer right away.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

Welcome Ellen,
Does anyone know how many 19' are ordered? I'm guessing 5 at this point. (My 17' is going to be between 19's.)

Not sure Sandra, but I am betting up into the 'teens of 19's ordered.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

I also wonder about the geographical distribution of Escapes. Are they mostly in British Colombia? (That might be determinative of a future Escape rally.)

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

A rally later this summer, or even a year from now once Escape gets more units out would be fun.

I'm XXX'ing the days!!! 4 weeks from today, we fly into Seattle. 4 weeks from tomorrow we see our HokieEscape 5.0 for the first time in person! Have trip planned? Only 2500 miles back to Virginia. We are psyched!!!!!!!! I've been learning the art of "blogging", so hopefully, those who want to follow us along, will be able to, beginning the 24th of March, the day we leave Blacksburg. I'll post the website at that time. I loved following Dirk around BC.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

A bit curious here, if you fly into Seattle and driving back to Virginia, are you buying or renting a vehicle then?

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

Me too! I'm very happy or you! Should be a great trip. Would love to see pictures. What are you going to do about outfitting it? Ie: blankets, dishes, etc? Or have you stockpiled and stored stuff while in BC? I'm trying to figure out how to pack plus leave room for the dog.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

Sandra, could you not use a car top carrier? What are you using to pull the trailer with?
We are not going to worry a lot what we take, just some bedding, a cooler full of food, and a couple boxes of kitchenware. We will likely head out on a Friday (12 hr drive) and come back more slowly on Sunday/Monday. We won't be making a big trip out of it.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

I'm contemplating borrowing my son's new car top carrier that he uses for his ski equipment. My tow vehicle is a 2005 Toyota Sienna. The only difficulty for me is that I am short and not sure what the reach is to the carrier. As it is, I use a small step ladder to clean my windshield. (I may have to bring it along too.) I also thought about one of those hitch cargo carriers, but then it would have to go into the bike rack receiver for the trip back, and I don't want to deal with that. At least I don't think so .

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress

What about shipping the bulky items to Escape Ind.. You probably could ship the bedding and things that take up alot of space, but are pretty light..
