Re: 19ft Escape - Progress
Correct me if I am wrong but i do not think this photo is of a 19 ft Escape plug. Unless the tandem wheels are now single axle.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress
I'm not too sure.. I could-of have it wrong ( I just assumed by name of the photo it was the 19ft) .. I'm sure Rease will enlighten.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress
Sorry for the delay....couldn't get the photos to work :P
This is an old 17' mold that we are beginning with. As you will see, we will chop this up and frankenstein it back together in the shape of the 19'. We will make a 'plug' from this temporary mold which will be refined and then the actual mold will be made.

The first cut.....
Looking through the door, you can see it has been cut in half and is now 4" wider.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress
This is great to see Reace.
So, the plug you make from this cutting and resizing of the old form must still need a whole bunch of work done on it to make it take the final shape. How do you do this, adding glass, body filler, or what? It is interesting to see this happen, kinda like an episode of "How is it made".

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress
This is the first of several cuts to the length. This cut is in front of the door where we will remove 8" from the mold, essentially moving the door forward. Note the snowflakes.....its dust
The next photo shows this seam fiberglassed back together.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress
We cut and added 6" behind the wheel well. You can see here Jim how all the joints will be filled with wood. As mentioned, this is only a temporary mold to make the 19' plug which will then be refined.

Re: 19ft Escape - Progress
All back together....you can see what I mean by 'frankenstein'.
Now it is just a matter of adding some support on the exterior and send it off to the fiberglass shop to have the plug made. It still has to be raised 4" however we won't see this until the plug comes out. Note the snow again!
