Some of this is sounding a little confusing.......about those wheel wells . Are the wheel wells not inside the storage compartments that make up the seats of the larger dinette - which converts to the double bed in the 17 ? They are in the 15 , and they are some inches below the top of the seat . So I don't get where the wheel wells would be a problem , if one only took space from the sink/stove side it would be wider at that end and the fridge area would stay the same . While we might be good with that (if we were after a17) but don't expect anyone else to feel the same , just don' t get why the wheel wells would be an issue . Coarse ...I could just be in a fog .....

The wheel wells are not under the seats. They are below the sink. Under the sink there is a cupboard, and under that is another shallow cupboard, maybe 4 inches deep, and behind that is the wheel well. There is another shallow cupboard on the opposite side, under the fridge, and behind that is a wheel well. At least on my 2008.

With the 15 being the same mould as the 17 - just shortened from the hitch end , no portion of the wheel well is under the seat part -in the 17 ? But the double bed is only 5 inches less than the 54 inch bed of the 15 ... huh .....think I need to go out in the cold " brrrr " and recheck how much wheel well is under the seat ..... But I still don't get the wheel well as an interference issue on stealing space from the sink/stove area ......

Here's pics. The things I do...
As you can see, there is some wheel well under the seat, next to the water heater, but most of it is under the sink.
And, yes, that's how and where the pots and pans travel...

The 15 shows just a wee bit more of the wheel well , probably the 5 inches that the bed is wider. If someone were interested in making the stove/sink area a bit smaller - in the width , I really can't see where the wheel well would be an issue ……..the cabinets would just be smaller …… ( we keep our pots in the same place )

We had a queen width, 60", fixed bed installed in our 15A. That obviously covers more of the wheel well and it works.
Our 15A was the older 2012 version before the fridge was moved to the passenger side. We just took 6 inches off the closet width on passenger side and 6" off the galley and voila! A queen width bed.
With the newer, 2013, version of the 15A I don't think you could do this with the fridge requiring the width needed to get the queen and you probably can't move the fridge forward.

We do have to venture outside to use the campsite facilities but the bed is sure nice.

I'm thinking you have to find a narrow fridge or eliminate the fridge to have any chance of fitting a larger bed in the 17B. Wheel well is behind that bottom cupboard, which is about 4 or 5" deep.

Obviously those who urge you to talk to Reace are right about this. The best we can do is speculate. But Lindy and I are in the same camp as Eric and Mary, and others who find the 49" bed to be just fine. Even to the point where we are going to be replacing the queen size bed in our home with a double size one (although on that is the standard 54" width). Turns out that one of the best things about camping is snuggling, especially when it is cool out side.

As I stated early in this thread, I've owned a trailer with a 48" bed and wasn't happy with it. As I progress on this project, I'll eventually determine the feasibility of this 54" bed in a 17B. If not possible, I'll just stick with what I have in the 17'SD.
