Watch: Arizona meteor sightings caught on video - CBS News

I've almost been taken out by lightning, fallen off cliffs, near dehydration, etc. I can now cross off being nearly obliterated by a meteor from my bucket list.
I'd go looking for where that meteor landed. Could be a valuable findd and certainly an interesting one. Then if any small chunks are found, I'd get them made into a necklace just for insurance sake .......

Hi: Greg A... The Russians have launched some of their Ladas at us so we in turn launched some old Meteor's at you. If push comes to shove you can always use them for erosion control. Russian space junk will be falling into the Arctic Ocean again soon!!! Alf

"70 Degrees" is at it again. We are under pre-evacuation orders at the cabin in AZ White Mountains as the Cedar Creek Fire is about 15 miles and advancing straight at us.
We have the Escape packed and will be on hitch shortly to Vamoose if Evacuation orders come down. Guess we'll head to a campground or BLM and camp while we're waiting for news. Nice to have your Escape Pod handy for emergencies.
Starting to think we left two zeros off when we named the trailer and it should be "7000 Degrees."

What a summer!

Keep the faith Greg. We got one here in the West Mountains east of ABQ as well. Just got started yesterday, burned 900 acres, not under control. This shot is about 12 miles from my house. Unlike your situation we do not feel threatened, yet.

Our Prayers over to you Myron, our sky looks similar.
We are now 1 mi away from Evacuation orders. Cleaned all the gutters and we already raked the perimeter earlier, so all we can do. Filled the Escape water tanks and we're loading up. I had left the fridge on all week so we can just transfer food and go.

I recall covering a fire near Princeton. We parked the car facing the escape route and left the engine running.
After the recent fires in Alberta and B.C., and with the threat of earthquakes, I try to keep at least a half tank of gas in the RAV.

Update: Fire is now 1/4 mile from trigger point for evacuation. Escape ready to go we're moving to dispersed camping further east in an hour and don't know if we'll have any services for awhile. Prayers to all in fire zones, we'll check in when we can.

Another reason to be in a fiberglass rv versus a SOB with a rubber roof, better fire protection with blowing embers....stay safe.
