Exclamation A minor rant

Throughout ETI literature and the website reference is made to the choice of “Maple” or “Oak”.

Nice, but nowhere have I seen it made explicit that the choices are actually “Maple with translucent upper-cabinet door panels” or “Oak with solid upper-cabinet door panels”.

One may or may not gain understanding of that apparently immutable fact from the many pictures.

Yes, I've sent Karl an email suggestion about the (minor?) 'disclosure', which with this post assuages my need to vent

(though not my wish for return to the days of 'maple' interiors with 'maple' panels in all cabinet doors ; methinks there's a 'solution' involving a router with jig and a sheet of the 'maple' paneling purchased from ETI; it’s the details, ya know )

First-world problems, so it goes, y'all have a great day, I know I will!

I figured it out, but I wish there had been an option for maple with maple. I went with oak as I don't like the panels. (Not that they don't look fine- just not my choice.)

oak also comes with a free backsplash, maple does not, at least in 17B

A nice option would be some type of stiff screening or perforated painted metal panels in the upper cabinet doors, for venting to avoid condensation.

Sounds like DIY to me.
I just leave cupboards open when not camping.

on both counts

Just curious - has anyone tried to shift (relative to the wood frame) the panels in their maple upper cabinet doors? Wondering if they are 'floating' in the slot or if they appear to be glued, too?

'Floating', with a bit of edge clearance would be typical construction for a panel door and would lend to easy router-cutting from the backside to turn the 'slot' into a 'rabbet', then remove the panel and and replace with whatever one's heart desires.

One small experimental cut to expose / determine the depth of the slot, then a fence for the router with proper offset to slide on the outside of the door frame .... a sharp chisel to square the corners and Bob's yer uncle!

I personally love the maple doors with the translucent panels. With a little electrical creativity, we have a party trailer!

I just went out and looked. For the Maple upper doors, the plexiglass panels are just glued (siliconed?) into a rabbit. They are not constructed like a normal door with a grove in the frames.

Gee, thanks for that effort and detail, Arnie!

Looks like it'd be an even easier project to swap than I'd imagined!

I've asked Linda at ETI if they'll ID the maple-finished luan paneling mfr/product (so I can try to source it locally in TX) or sell a sheet loose with the trailer (and cost) but she's still working on the answer to that one.

Abusing Arnie's Generosity ...

Arnie, I'd have done this by PM or email via the forum but neither seem to support attaching a sketch. Begging your further assistance since your 5.0 seems to be convenient to your home, totally off my OP topic .... would you be so very kind as to report the 6 measurements (A - F) on the attached very-not-to-scale sketch?

With eternal gratitude if you can, With absolute understanding and no worries if not

(Absolutely no rush)

Best regards,
Alan

And then, of course, you let the light colors cycle through, with the window blinds open, as you motor down the road.

Do you have any information on doing this, what lighting you used. This is on my to do list.

BTW, I love the trailer and it's maple cabinets just the way they are, it got a bit heavy, but so did I.

Keep that up and after a few more empty propane tanks (and new trailers) you will have enough spare parts to build your own Escape trailer!

First, Jim, I was very relieved to read that you're back home and wish the best for your continued recovery

Any of your paneling collection happen to be maple-finish (or even oak) with a manufacturer's identification stamp visible on the back?
