Trailers
Our Scamp was about 1979 and the Casita about 2001 with a few other RV's before, between and after. The 21 Escape will be our last although we also said that about our 19 Escape.

Hi: All... Half as old as I feel and twice as old as i want to be!!!
We fell into our first Escape at 60. It wasn't supposed to happen till I turned 65 and retired... but when "Opportunity knocks" the rest is history. We have enjoyed escaping ever since!!! Alf

I wonder if there is an even larger contingent of those in the sixties than seen in the poll since the Internet has a larger percentage of younger people using it. There may be more younger owners on this forum than would be representative of owners.

Good point. Also, the on-line habits of us older folks are such that we spend less time on-line. And then there is resistance to change: E.G. I still use a flip-phone, so on-line for me means sitting at a table or desk with a computer. I'm on-line at work, for a short time at home, but on weekends, sometimes the computer never sees the passage of an electron.

58 when we paid for it, 57 when I ordered. We always used to say "when we go cross country." Now we say "next time we go cross country."

60's folks win. That's OK, just means we got a little head start.

That's right, you are young for a short time but you can be immature forever. (I'm talking about me).

I was 62 when I bought the Casita. 67 for the 5.0. 70 for the TA. In tents until I hit 60 and got tired of cooking out in the rain.

Just flipped a decade several days ago. Turned 70 but feel like 40 and will pick up the trailer after Labor Day. Major item on bucket list. Run the Alcan Highway all the way to Anchorage and come back on the Cassiar. Loren

Sixties 51% and fifties 32% now. I'm surprised the sixties group has held up.
I guess I would want to know how the youngest ones under 40 became Escape owners and what their story is since they are the unusual ones.
I wish we had had a head start from under 40. Better late than never.

Those darn oldies are kicking butt, eh?
We bought our first trailer (a Coleman tent trailer) when I was in my early thirties. A couple friends bought trailer too, but not many. Both my brothers bought tent trailers, and still use them. No Escapes around back then, and not even any moulded fiberglass trailers being sold here then. Our kids were very young, one around two and the other only a few months.
In our twenties, I did WAY more camping than I do now, but it was all in the backcountry in tents, something I still enjoy. But, once we had kids, the only way to get them out with us was to camp from the car. I did have a four person tent that worked great for my wife, my dog, and myself, but when our first kid came along, it started to get crowded in that backpacking tent.
Our kids grew up camping their whole lives, both in trailers, and in tents in the backcountry. They both enjoy canoeing and hiking too. Now that they are young adults, they still come out with us a lot, though bring their own bedrooms.
