We use our Garmin quite a bit even though I have navigation in my F150. It’s nice to have a second screen and I can remove it to plan routes instead of having to do it in the truck.

My iPhone and Google maps serves the same function - planning at home - and then connects with Apple Play to the Highlander display.
My TomTom is in a box somewhere.

Our old GPS is loaded with tens of thousands of POI’s.
We use it constantly.

Same with me, except I my Garmin, aptly named Stupid, was finally told “You’re fired.” I cannot count the number of times it nearly got me into difficult towing situations. And Google maps, as an app, is constantly updated. It has never tried to send me down a one lane, dead-ended gravel road.

So was my Garmin. POIs are sub files that the user adds to their GPS. But those files can be added to Google maps also. Just “Google” how to add POIs to Google Maps. If you visit the ETI website and look at the owner’s map, it is actually a layer of POIs. If you use Google maps on a smart phone, after you load it the owner’s map once, the layer remains. Tap “Saved” on the bottom, and then tap “Maps”.
And the best thing about Google Maps is when one deviates from its chosen route, it will try to get you back on its chosen route but it doesn’t tell you “Recalculating” a zillion times.
