Another solution to the headboard problem in our '19

This is a quick and cheap solution to the headboard problem while reading while in bed. A few issues ago in this forum some suggestions were made to deal with the brackets for the window blinds poking one in the back. Here's my solution (see photos):

I bought some 2" size pipe insulation and cut it to size to overlap both brackets. It usually comes pre-cut with a slice down one side so you can open it up to put around a pipe. I cut a hole in the middle big enough to fit the window knob through so that you can still open and close the window. I cut slits for the cord on each side. I taped around the knob hole with electrical tape. Then I intalled the insulation on the knob and over the cords. I taped on both sides of the slits so they wouldn't expand or move off the cord. And that was it. We tried this on our most recent trip and it worked perfectly. No more poking in the back.

We don't have our trailer yet. Getting our 21 next spring. We have a standard dinette, but home to be able to lean against the back wall, while reading or watching TV or whatever. I'm guessing we will have same issue with the little thingie that sticks out. We did find some neat "sit and read" pillows that we were hoping to lean up against there. But is there a concern with breaking the "thingies" (not sure what they are called), if we use pillows against them?

I take it the thingies are the spools for the shade cords. I have yet to break one and lean one often, I just put a pillow in front of it.

Shade cord retainer. If you break one they are available:
