Backroads Maps on your GPS

For those of you who like to wander away from the highways...........these look great! Works on Garmin & Mapsource products.

That is cool, I have a couple of the booklets with these maps on. They have been real handy in the past.

Re: Backroads Maps on your GPS

What a bummer, they are only available for Canada. Anyone know of something similar for the US?

Sure are pricey. I'm not going to replace all the Backroad Mapbooks I already have. I'm also suspect of these mapbooks. I have two of them covering Vancouver Island by different publishers. I was checking out a lake for fishing from the canoe. In one book the lake appeared to be on the road. In the other it looked like a quarter-mile portage. I assume GPS would give you an accurate read of the situation, but at $69.95 each, I'll wait to read reviews.

I agree they do seem pricey! As with most GPS software, one has to take them with a grain of salt. I have Topo Canada & it relies on info that is seriously outdated. They are just another tool to use. I'm also going to wait & see what others think about them, but they do sound like a good thing, with all the other info on them (rec site, picnic sites, hikes, fishing, etc.) BTW, re the lake on the Island...........we like to keep them that way LOL! more fishing for the locals
