Bike Rack Recommendation

Killer deal- and the thing is the guy with the Lance 1685 loved my rack but didn't see how he could use it not having a bike-rack ready rig.

You should be very happy with the 1-UP. It's the bomb IMHO.

One thing to be aware of with 1UP & a cover for bikes: we had a slow leak on a front tire which then made for a loose fit and the wheel jumped off the tray. Rubbed the rim on the side some, however seems just cosmetic. Will give a squeeze when doing my walk arounds now to be sure tires are inflated.

It’s the one we have and it works great. It may not be quite as nice as the one-up but the Swagman works with fenders. I use a piece of swim noodle under the holdown. It really seems stable. We got the optional locking pin and cable.

I've become less happy with the Swagman Escapee2 since my original review, the swing arms that hold the wheels, the alloy clamps that provide friction have jumped their limiters and warped. its still working, but its much harder to move the arms out of the way to load/unload bikes.

I appreciate all the bike rack info and where I believe the 1UP is as good as everyone says just hard for me to justify spending that much on a bike rack. We have been using a Swagman XC with our Casita, I had a front mount setup built done so I could carry the bikes over the propane tank and it has worked great. I buy quality used bikes from local Goodwill's so don't really care if they get one more scratch but have not seen that problem that I can remember. I just ordered the Swagman Dispatch since others in this thread have had some good luck with that.
I plan hopefully one day to order one of the Quick Rack Mach 2 if he ever gets that figured out, they are now saying Spring 2019. You get an email saying this and waiting for three other crucial metal parts. I responded to that email with hey I might be able to help you with those parts because I import office furniture from Taiwan and work with one of the largest metal benders in Taiwan. Curious to see if I get any response regarding that.
I will update when I get the Swagman Dispatch and give it a try.

I did that too and had to resort to duct taping it on the bike frame or it would come loose. A friend following once said it was bouncing pretty bad at times.

We pay for a good quality trailer, I apply the same reasoning for that purchase to the bike rack too. If you guy a 1UP, it is most likely the last rack you will buy.

Jim, I’ve heard and seen some bouncing with a bike rack, but most always when a smaller framed rack fits into the 2” receiver with an adapter. We have the Swagman Dispatch with the 2” frame and a screw down, locking hitch pin, no adapter. It is rock solid with no movement whatsoever. I augment the padded hook with a folded towel, locked down on the frame. No movement and no scarring. We are very happy with the Dispatch!

Mine was not called the Dispatch, though looked pretty much the same and worked the same way. Could be that they have stiffened up the frame.

my bikes have some marks i now pad them well someday i will spring for the one up !
