booking a max 20ft campsite with a 21ft escape?

When booking a campsite that has a max 20 ft length has anyone had many problems showing up with the escape 21? It seems like the state parks have a search criteria up to 20 ft which limits allot of sites.

I've booked campsites before with limits of 20 ft and had no problems. BUT, I look for more information, if they supply it, and at pictures, again if supplied. Some will state a 20 ft limit but have a 35 to 50 ft driveway. Go figure. Look also for ease a access, a limiting factor for back-ins, which could be an indication weather or not there are obstacles, like trees near by. Some will also state the overhang available. This is the area available behind the limiting barricades that stop your trailer wheels, but not your trailer. The last thing I look for is how level the parking pad is. The driveway could be long with a short level parking area. Good luck.

As Tom says, it depends. Is there anything to prevent bumping the tires of the trailer against the curb block at the back of the site? Don't forget to add the length of your tug into your measurements, unless you plan to park it somewhere else.

Thanks Tom, it seems like it shouldn't be a problem but I wondered if they are normally strict about it and would turn you away.

Once in a while the 20' is the length from the back of the site to the street, so it needs to be wide enough for your TV. I too look for pictures. This site works well if your campground is in it. Campsite Photos, Camping Pictures, and Campground Reviews - campsitephotos.com

I book one that lists a length big enough for both if I can't see an image of the sites. In my case as close as I can get to 35' or more for the 21' 5.0TA and the 20' truck.

It is usually a tough call because some campgrounds describe the length of a site from the road to the back of the site, and some include space for a tow vehicle. Some allow some overhang behind the trailer's rear wheels, while others measure to a tree or wall.

Our nearby state park (Fairhaven Beach State Park) avoids confusion by listing both the site length AND the driveway length.

We booked a 20 ft site ONCE . Our 17 ft Casita had the tires up against the curb at the back of the site and the tongue barely cleared the road . The bad part was we had to park our truck in the parking lot , which was 3 blocks away and out of view from our campsite. A PITA IMHO.
