We decided to swap the Escape keyring for some other similar type(s) as we were concerned that someone would have our "address" if we inadvertently dropped them.

This lanyard is the reason I got into this mess. I removed the key to the hitch lock off the Escape lanyard to give the lanyard to the new owners. I then put the keys in a storage container being used to empty the trailer. Therein lies the problem, which container has the keys. The issue is no longer pressing as I have had the locks removed.

That is the idea, I think. If the keys are lost, someone might send them to Escape or call them. And you could get them back.

For others with a similar opportunity: I have successfully used a dremel drill with a cut off wheel around a camper. Sometimes I use a flexible cable attachment. You can cut ur grind off just about anything. There is one important note: get and wear a good pair of safety glasses.

The address with the keys is quite a statement on today's society. Years ago my dad had a key tag with his name and address on it. The tags were sold by the Disabled American Veterans. The post office had approved these tags which were stamped on the back "drop in any mailbox". If you lost you keys, which my dad did a couple times, the postal service would process the ring and they'd be in your mailbox in a couple days. Now your front door would be open and your TV would be gone

In Canada still the War Amps of Canada who mainly help children with missing limbs has a similar service where each year you get a plastic tag with just a number on which is linked to your donation account with them. Lose your keys with that tag on and they are returned to you. I once left keys in our community mailbox and sure enough a few weeks later they arrived in the mail. We shall always support this organization.

Emerson growing?

How are you doing Adrian? I read on another form I follow that your little village is experiencing an influx of new people who have not lived as far north as you are in the past? Is this true and has it affected you?

Obviously depends on the type of person that finds them. I dropped my wallet in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot one morning on my way fishing. Figured it out later while I was on the boat and called the store. Luckily some nice person found it and turned it in to the store clerk with nothing missing. They should at least have bought themselves a coffee!

Rita and I went to a mayoral election candidate announcement today. A fellow
came up to us and asked us how we'd been, how was retirement, where was our daughter living now and a couple other questions. Rita did the answering and I stayed quiet because I did not remember who he was and did not want to play any cards. He walked away with "good to see you again.
Dave "Who was that?"
Rita "I have no idea."

I hear you on returning property. There's a lot of good people out there. One of my park guys brought in a light meter once. A retired professional photo guy had left it on a bleacher seat. A year later he missed it and remembered the last time he had used it. He called my office and was in disbelief when I told him it was laying in my lost and found drawer. One of my foremen brought a purse in one day that was left on a picnic table. We took it to the police station where they inventoried the contents. $ 2,000 cash etc etc she was happy to get it back.

Story of my life and it has nothing to do with aging. No worries though if my wife's with me, she'd remember the person even if they had only been in her Grade 1 class for a week.

In my wild young days I was stationed near NYC for some military training. We were warned not to wear our military uniform in the city due to the antiwar backlash during the Vietnam era. However the uniform got you all the freebies. Long story short I got robbed on the Staten Island Ferry, took my wallet with my military ID. Needless to say I was put on base restriction due to the loss of that very important ID. A few days later my staff sergeant called me into his office and said I was a lucky SOB and was no longer on restriction. Seems some nice person found my wallet (empty of money of course) but saw the military ID and dropped it into a mailbox and was delivered to the base the next day. Never forgot that.

When I was in high school a couple of buddies and I found a wallet in a city park in Peoria. We took it in to the police station, and the cops were so amazed that we were bringing it in with money still in it, that they almost wouldn't believe us that that was all the money in it when we found it. I think it must not have been a common occurrence for them.

I haven't been back to my hometown in decades, but with Caterpillar's headquarters leaving for Chicago, Peoria is in sad shape. Population there is less now than when I graduated from high school.
