I started a trailer "Hope Chest" several months ago. It's not a Lane Cedar Chest, but rather a large plastic bin. I started filling it with things I'll need while traveling around in Wild Thing. Now that the build sheet is done, it's time to get back to work on collecting the household items I'll need on the road! A good way to pass the time until hatching!

I taped out space on my dining room floor the size of my truck bed and would fill containers, bins, what ever to fit within the specified space available. Redid that packing several times. That way you know if you will have enough space to carry what you feel is needed and perhaps eliminate some items that are not needed.

Sarah, As you gather items for your new camper-to-be, stay mindful of the weight of individual items you plan to carry in the camper - things like kitchen/dining ware, blankets, electronic devices, etc. etc., etc. A few ounces here, and a few ounces there, can really add up quickly into extra pounds of stuff. Have fun!

In addition to gathering items to take, I also made a list of things we could/should gather after pickup. (On the trip to Chilliwack, we hauled our various bins into the motel rooms at night!) Sheets (expensive to buy) and towels we took with us, but a (bulky) new set of pillows we bought in Bellingham WA. Also after pickup, we bought a set of scatter rugs, and a pair of accent pillows that we didn't know we needed until we spent a bit of time sitting at our dinette...

And of course, there were other things that we just did without on our trip home, because we didn't want to fool with them on our way there.

Have fun!

Thanks! I'm trying to be mindful and patient but a few basics will get me started. I'll leave the Camping World shopping trip for later!

Yes! It's going to go fast now. Summer helps! I plan to bring her home for a few months then head south for the winter...poke around Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, visit friends and family and get my "land legs" accustomed to the road.

Great idea! I'm going to start with the bare necessities and add as the need arises. I hope to travel light...well except for art supplies of course[emoji2]

Great tips! I was planning to get linens but love your idea about waiting on pillows. I plan to pack everything that will in fit in the cab of the truck with me in soft duffles so they can be flattened for better storage on the way home. Hopefully only 2 bins in back.
