C-pap

So I now have the distinct honor of joining the C-pap crowd. So I guess boondocking is a fond memory. Anyways where do you guys that have them place them in your trailers?
Kind of feel like Dearth Vader now.

You don’t have to give up boondocking, the Philips respironics DreamStation works great off 12 volt with is adapter.

Hi Darth Vader! Easy peasie with the 12 volt adapter for the CPAP. But one thing to keep in mind when you are boon docking, don’t use the humidifier with it as that is what will kill your battery. The CPAP alone, no problem. Can’t give you any advice though on where to place it in the 21.
Regards
Scott

Agree with others, above, that boondocking is totally doable. 12V adapter and skip the dehumidifier and you’ll do fine. We have a stooge table at the foot of bed on our 19, and CPAP goes there sometimes. Other times put it on cooktop and route hose from there.

We didn't have a C-pap but for many months had to bring long these oxygen bottles.

12 volt plug and all works.

We have a 5.0TA and the machine just sits right next to the bed.

If you have captains lights in the corners above your bed you can access the power from them, use a small hole saw and put a 12 volt outlet facing out through the upper cabinet and plug into that. Put the CPAP and 12 volt converter in the overhead cupboard and hang the hose down. Try this with your kids First, Heavy breathing and then “Luke, I am your father” they should go nuts.

The need for a CPAP would be a good reason to have extra 12 volt plug-ins installed during the build.

We had two put in by the bed in our 19. One is next to the D/S upper 120V AC outlet that’s part of the Cable Ready option, and the second is on the bed side of the P/S wall between kitchen and bed. We had a number of other outlets put in other places as well. Versatility is handy. The 12V/USB on P/S of front shelf is used all the time and particularly useful for stuff to charge but out of way on shelf.

I bought the Res Med 12 volt adapter and it also works fine while boondocking. I have a little 100 watt solar charger to keep my house battery fully charged.

We call it a "nose hose".

We had the CPAP 12 volt Plug installed during the build right next to the bed.

We just ordered our 21 and one of my questions was about CPAP. Was told that some people put them in the cabinet and you can put hose and electrical through a grommet. They can do the grommet for you. And add outlets as needed to face of cabinet.

This may be the perfect place and time to ask'
What CPAP machine do you use while camping?
Do you have one for the escape and one for home use?
Is it a humidifier or dehumidifier in the home system, I would have thought that you would add some humidity to the air, but I really don't have a clue.

I use the same one camping (with the 12 volt adapter) that I do at home, since they cost the better part of $1K down here in the states. I do Turn off the humidifier when camping as it can draw a bit more power. I am about 4 years into it now.

That would work well for a CPAP with autostart. It would be a pain in the ass if your CPAP did not have autostart.

I use a ResMed AirSense 10 at home and a Z1Auto on the road. My Z1Auto is powered by Li batteries, 12 volt or 110 volt.

Every year, I agree with you more. But, it's better than the alternative.

It’s what you do to function normally. I don’t see it as a pain. It’s better than falling asleep at a stop light. I’m at about 25 years, auto start, same unit as I have at home. No humidifier either camping or at home. Can’t sleep without it I’m so used to it. I can whistle the Stars and Stripes Forever without taking a breath. It’s like anything else, don’t fight it.
