thanks for the hint.

That would be a classier version than we did in our 2015. Since it had a two element light over the dinette, we put duct tape over one side and left the other clear. Then we could use the dimmed side unless we were looking for the screw (or other stuff) that we just dropped on the floor. When we needed max light, we still had the extra bright one to use. In the 2017, it only has one element, so we just use the captain's lights directed to the walls.

Just picked ours up on Jan 16th. The captains lights are still a "cool" temp, as you can see in the photo.

Darn, I was thinking about ordering these and the warmer lights have been discontinued. If anyone has an alternative, I'd sure be interested!

I would argue that over the bed and perhaps at the table the cool lights might be a better choice. I am not sure what Kelvin they are but for reading the cool is usually recommended. I agree that the standard bulbs are not easy to look at when you are looking directly into the light, but when reading in bed I like the particular Kelvin they have. The bulbs that Tom is recommending are definitely softer. In my opinion the 3000 Kelvin is still a bit bright, a 2700 Kelvin corresponds closer to an incandescent light.
