Just joined up and I'm moving a bit away from the 17 and thiking hard about the 19 now.
I'll have lots of questions but I shoudl probably review some posts first.

Hi David,

Welcome,,,you will love this site and all the info available,,,I'm new here too but not to Rving.
I've had a Westphalia,,38 foot bounder, a 20 Sprinter and now a 17 B,,,My mistake in the past has been not clearly defining what I need. Not want .,,,what I need.
The 17 B does fit what I need . It cost me a fortune to find this out and I really should have thought more carefully about how I was going to use the unit. I now understand that often "less is more".

Questions like ,,,how far will I travel,,,costs,,,will I park on one site for a time, or travel everyday,,,shower? how much cooking indoors?, towing with what? I dont need slideouts, TVs etc etc. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Big mistake.
When we camp on Vancouver island we dont go all that far,,,we golf or fish in the day and are outside most of the time, unless it rains,,then we want to play cards indoors etc etc

Everyone is different, but my advice is write down clearly how you expect to use your unit and then go from there.
I've been to the factory and I like all the units ,,they are super.

My brother is constantly amazed that we love the size of our current 16' Scamp and its (hopefully affordable by us) replacement - a 17'B Escape. He pulled a house sized 5th wheel and they lived in it for all winter. He always pushes for us to get a much larger trailer. We travel to places like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and the Circle Tour of Lake Superior. We are usually away from the trailer most of the day and come back to cook dinner and sleep. We love getting 15 - 17 average mpg pulling with our V6 Tacoma and being able to store it in our 20' fabric shelter.

Some folks like to spend a lot of time inside a trailer and need much more space. As you say, understanding how you want to use the trailer and matching that to the trailer itself is very important.
