I just shine a flashlight through the window. Done that maybe twice in lifetime of camping.

There is a Bestwestern right across the street from the Escape plant. Walking distance! Just put in Bestwestern, Chilliwack, BC. And it will come up.

I have suggested to Reace he needs to purchase that one or start his own. I bet collectively everyone at Escape probably shells out $10-20k there annually.

Another good option is the Hampton Inn by Hilton - in Chilliwack

very new hotel.

indoor pool, hot tub, and water slide.
breakfast included.

ask for the Escape rate and it was a lot less than any other rate at that hotel.

we just paid $119 CAD for 2 adults, 1 child, king room with pull out sofa bed.

we asked for a room on the other side of the train tracks, and it was very quiet.

although the new hotel was built with sound proofing in mind.

a little ways to ETI... it would be a long-ish walk, but doable. or drive.

We are leaving in the morning for our trip to Chilliwack.

Of course, it is snowing in most of Oregon. We are taking I10 to California then I5 to Chilliwack. The truck is 4x4, has all-season tires, and a set of chains are in the rear cab - we should be good to go. Hotels on the way up - RV parks on the way back.

Should be interesting - I haven't been in a vehicle in snow since I was a kid and I wasn't driving!

This seems so strange to hear coming from our location, but you should be just fine. Just go with the flow of traffic if on snow or ice, and all will be good. Too many not used to the conditions will go real slow, which causes problems just as much as those who speed too fast. Sounds like you have planned for all conditions.

Heading out now to do some snow shovelling, then off to take Jasper for our daily ski up Nose Hill.

Bring sunglasses!! When the sun comes through, snow can be blinding.

I had thought that maybe diverting to 199 to get around the Siskiyou Summit would be a good option but the current road cams look bad. Should I stay with I5?

Which exit will you get off I5 in Washington and start to head to Sumas?

We'll be doing that same route in another couple weeks - planning on hitting La Quinta Inns on the way up because of bringing the dogs. Two wheel drive truck but do have the chains ready to go. Heading for the coast on the way home. Would be great to hear of your progress on the way up I-5 particularly experiences getting through the passes.

Those both look like pretty good winter driving conditions, and the thing is, it can all change quite fast. A good wind is usually the biggest trouble here, as the drifting snow can be way more troublesome than the stuff that falls and sits still. It also plays havoc with visibility.

This snow laden road was no trouble to drive on with my Honda Pilot. BTW, this is on the Icefields Parkway heading from Jasper to Lake Louise after a ski trip.
