Considering moving from 21 to 23

We love our 21 and have decided to move to 23 for bed and dry bath. Was wondering if others who are considering this move have looked at any other trailer brands that have queen bed and dry bath? There is not much out there other then Lance which I think we have decided against.

The 23 is very tempting based on those 2 items. My concern is, where will the optioned cost end up. I heard they had a target base starting price of 40,000 US. Now add in all the options u will want and suddenly u will be looking at 50 to 55,000 US. Yikes.

Cheers

I wouldn't unless I could step inside one and see it first. The best part of the 21C is the kitchen. A lot of that space is going away in the 23'.

I think others who gave opinions on the 23 suggested Bigfoot as an option they preferred over the 23.

Is it the same with trailers as it is with sailboats?

The adage there is ...."the bigger the boat, the less you use it.". Sort of accurate....but there's always exceptions.

Enjoy whatever you have or get.

There is lots to like about the 23. The bedroom area is the best in any Escape.

The space a dry bath wastes to me is the biggest negative, especially the shower being a separate room.

But many will love the bath. It is rare for either of us to use the shower, maybe it could be used for super storage. [emoji16]

I'm curious, is the Lance you were considering the 2075? That's one that I keep looking at as an alternative...the floorplan is remarkably similar to the 23, except the shower and toilet are on the same side:

I'm far from in love with either one but gotta admit the Lance bath arrangement makes lot more sense to me for what it provides (with an additional ~foot of length, both interior and overall per the specs).

Just remarking on the floorplans / space arrangement; construction etc is another matter entirely

Interesting, isn't it, how the artist's choices of perspective and vertical-scale exaggeration can alter the perception of things in graphics

Yep, just yesterday I was playing around with the images as well...here's one where I drew lines to indicate where the walls really are on the floor, countering the artist's 3D effect:

And that is what’s pushing us towards the Bigfoot. There is no way I will spend that kind of money on a new product sight unseen. Drawings , photos, and videos can be very deceiving. Everything looks larger than it really is.
Who knows when the border will be opened to allow an in person look. I’m guessing, at best, this time next year.

Having had a trailer with both a dry bath and a wet bath, I personally don't think it is that big of a deal.

I like the Escape 23's queen bed floorplan. I think it will make a great trailer for a senior couple who does most of their camping in RV parks.

You have your Escape 21. You know the kind of camping you do. Only you can know if the extra interior space will outweigh the larger exterior size.

If they made the 21C just a bit taller, that's what I would be going with instead of the 5.0 or 23. 21 is a great size.

As planned there is a 2000 lb weight difference between the Bigfoot's (21 and 25) 7500 lb GVWR and the target GVWR for the Escape 23 of 5500 lbs. That weight increase has a ripple effect. It either eliminates or maxes out towing with a midsize pickup truck. It even eliminates some configurations of full size pickups.

The following is the payload and towing capacity of some of the most popular trucks and SUVs for the 2019 model year:

Ford F-150 Towing Capacity
Payload: 1,326 to 2,309 lbs
Towing capacity: 5,000 to 8,000 lbs

Toyota Tacoma Towing Capacity
Payload: 1,120 to 1,620 lbs
Towing capacity: 3,500 to 6,800 lbs

Toyota Tundra Towing Capacity
Towing capacity: 6,400 to 10,200 lbs
Payload: 1,440 to 1,730 lbs

RAM 1500 Towing Capacity
Payload: 1,528 to 2,302 lbs
Towing capacity: 6,280 to 7,520 lbs

Chevy Colorado Towing Capacity
Payload: 1,242 to 1,576 lbs
Towing capacity: 3,500 to 7,000 lbs

Jeep Grand Cherokee Towing Capacity
Payload: 1,237 to 1,987 lbs
Towing capacity: 3,500 to 7,200 lbs

Those towing capacity's look a little low. I know for the F 150 it can go up to the 13,000 lb area depending on how it is optioned. The others look low also.

My 2018 Tundra, limited, Crew Cab, with 5'-6" bed has a payload of 1,200 lbs. That's it! Works super great with a 5.0. No problem at all.

7,500 lbs is way too much for me to carry!

I bought one trailer and one trailer only. Now I camp!

Our current Ford Expedition with the max trailer tow package has a GCWR of 15,500# and is rated to tow 9,200#.
If we go the Bigfoot 25’ route we will be just fine.

...also about $20k or so in price difference. That has a ripple affect on my bank account!

Yes the perspective and vertical-scale exaggeration is unbelievable. Looking to compare measurements with the 5.0TA I went to the specs on Escape website and note the 5.0TA photo is now similar and from that perspective doesn't look anything like ours.

Noting the 19.5 interior length is similar to the interior of the 5.0TA I'm curious as to whether the extra width will make much difference. Looking at the kitchen counter space seems similar to the 5.0TA when taking the extra counter by the door into consideration. Yes the 23 will have a walk around queen bed but doubt you'd want to put anything on the floor like we do on there spaces beside our bed. The two bath areas seem to take up a much larger than a 5.0TA and I wonder about overall storage space. Then there's the easier towing with a 5.0TA, much cheaper on things like ferries with considerable less overall length, plus advantages like fitting into smaller campsites especially as we often do just stopping for one night and not unhooking. A dry bath might be nice but we're so used to ours, rarely shower in it and when we do it's a good way to clean the bathroom when you're finished.

on edit: And that $20k difference in price!

I think the 23 would be incredible if that shower was actually a full wet bathroom and then the small toilet/sink area was just deleted in favor of a large kitchen working area.

Basically sacrifice the dry bath for a better kitchen and more open feel. That's my 2 cents, but then I have no interest in a dry bath as I don't see the need.

Both the Bigfoot 21 and 25 have a dry bath. Bigfoot 25RQ has a walk around bed, Bigfoot 21 has a very similar bed as the Escape 21, but it's in the rear away from the entry door.
Here's a current listing of an older model 21:
https://www.fiberglass-rv-4sale.com/...2900-keizer-or
The advantage with the Bigfoot is there are so many produced that they are readily available used throughout the year in the $20's. This disadvantage with the 25 is you need a beefy Tow Vehicle.
Looks like the Lance layout is maybe what they designed the 23 off of, but the Lance seems much roomier, I guess cause they put the bath in one room.
