cooking oil

I always seem to have a problem with storing my cooking oil.It always seems to be messy and lids leak and bottles fall over in cabinets. So how and what do others do, to store,or put your cooking oil in?Or what kind of bottle do you use, that don't leak.Seems like every bottle that I have used which the oil comes in ,has caps that don't seal well.

I use several small plastic bins, and cram spillable stuff tight in them so it can't tip. (I use the hanging closet as a pantry with ETI installed shelves.)

We have used Nalgene containers while camping. They don't leak:

For used grease, Camco makes a grease bin that uses disposable foil lined pouches:

We buy narrow "disposable" aluminum cooking pans in the grocery store that can be made (squished) to fit in the cabinet under the fridge. All our oils, syrups, and other liquids go there.

We too use the appropriately size Nalgene container. Bonus is that the ones we use are square, allowing things to fit tighter.

MEC carries them.

Here is a quick search of Amazon.ca for the square ones.

I used extra virgin olive oil. It comes in square bottle, either plastic or glass bottle.

We use the square lexan ones also. They have never leaked. You want the lexan ones because they clean easier especially with oil. They also don't stain like the other ones, e.g. ketchup and mustard.

We travel with olive oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil, and toasted sesame seed oil in their original glass bottles, snugged up in the pantry so they won't move. We use toilet paper rolls to fill the gaps in the pantry to keep everything tight.

Keep my liquids in small square tub under the sink. Keep oil and vinegar in recycled pancake syrup bottles. They have pop up nozzles like dish detergent bottles have.
Another totally related use for one of these bottles is in the bathroom. We installed a shut off valve to toilet waterline under dinette settee to conserve water in holding tank.
Use the syrup bottle filled with water and a little toilet holding tank enzyme to do a "Manuel Swirlie" of the toilet.

You could put them in a ziplock bag or two. There are ziplocks in large sizes.

One hint is to squeeze all the air out of the bottle if it is plastic before capping. The vacuum formed both helps contain the liquid and let you know you got the cap on really tight. Works very well for liquids on air travel, too. We've never had a leaker, even if it falls over.
