Diatomaceous Earth?

I noticed today after several campers vacated their sites a white powdery substance outlining where their stabilizer feet had been on the ground. I assume that it is something to control ants and other insects. Is it diatomaceous earth?

My guess would be yes. I’ve seen diatomaceous earth many times and it runs from white to an off white. Eastbank a COE Canpground recommends it when checking in to control Pharaoh Ants.

Lots of products on the market. DE is probably the cheapest as it’s used in some filter systems on municipal swimming pools. It came in 50 lb bags back when I bought it in the 70s.

This is a great idea to sprinkle around the campsite. My wife will be packing some for certain.

Try not to breath in Diatomaceous Earth, it's not good on the lungs. Safety First! :-)
