Did I make a boo boo when I ordered the Jack TV?
Yikes! I was sitting back proudly reviewing the build sheet we just finalized, when it occurred to me that I did not ask ETI for a coax connection on the outside for when we have access to cable tv at a commercial campground. We did order the tv ready package with the Jack TV antenna. Did I mess up?

TV ready used to mean it had an outside coax connector- that is what it was on our 2010 anyway.

Exterior coax is still part of the package, but there's always a possibility you screwed up somewhere else BSR . Build Sheet Remorse. Symptoms include dilated pupils, involuntary shaking, and blaming the spouse Maybe someone has a remedy.

Not for naught if you get to drink wine for a remedy.

The Jack TV coax connector feeds a signal from the outside port for cable TV use. It will NOT work with a satellite dish since it does not pass 12V power.

Great! We don't plan to use a satellite dish, so it looks like it I am good to go.
Thanks Jamman!

I connected to the cable at Osoyoos rally. TV had to memorize the channels and was still doing that, half an hour later, when I was distracted by the beer swap. Never did find out if there was something on TV.

I dropped the antenna option and went with just the coax set up, never used the antenna once in BlackJack. If need be I have an older Winegard model that hooks up to the coaxial input outside. Another reason was the height issues and aesthetics.

We use the Jack Antenna often only at bedtime. Great for catching up on the local news and The Andy Griffith Show. Floyd, the barber cracks me up

My concerns were unwarranted!
Just got this confirmation from Tammy...
"The Jack Antenna includes TV Ready which has an interior and exterior TV coaxial along with a 120V outlet."
Whew!!!

But doesn't it feel good to panic and worry needlessly? I made it an art form when I was doing our build sheet, and for weeks after it was signed off. My wife would roll her eyes every time I started a sentence with "well, what if...".
Since getting it, my worries are gone...which has me worried!

AC interference with Jack Antenna
Does the AC interfere with the TV signal to the Jack antenna if it is between the antenna and TV station? If not, how far above the AC unit is the Jack antenna?

How would I remove the tv antenna from my roof? It came with the trailer when we snagged a 21 from someone who couldn't pay. We never watch tv and don't ever plan to. Would like it removed as it interferes with my cover.

That would involve some fiberglass repair, perhaps a boat shop near by can remove and patch the hole.

Have to patch over the holes. Outside you could use a sheet of plastic screwed down to the original mounting holes, sealed and painted with Krylon Fusion paint for UV protection. Nobody can see that from the ground. Inside is a different matter - maybe some kind of a stick on (either solid cover or some wonderful graphic thingy.)
Would be good to save the parts for reinstall when/if you decide to sell the rig.

It is quite easy. Not sure where it is mounted in the 21, but usually the mounting bolts are inside a cabinet. If you remove the antenna, clean up the holes of any contamination, then patch with a reinforced fiberglass patching compound liks the Bondo Glass Filler, designed for single use. Within an hour you can sand smooth, then if desired or needed add a touch our paint, or gelcoat repair. Chances are, the wee patches will not even be visible.

jack antenna
Why not just leave it alone .When the Jack antenna works its not bad .I was one that got the bad one but its fixed now I get about 20 channels on the front drive . We like the old movies and weather channels at night . I would like to have dish network for Summer use . I believe its a easy fix to put in a different cable RU6 with special shielding to run to Jack or wineguard small dish ?
