Dimension of the bed in Escape 19

Hi

I'am in the precess of thinking i'll have to bite the bullet soon but still have a question.

Whent to visit the inside on an 19' Escape this morning of an happy owner this morning. On thing surprise me and my wife was the size of the bed. Since his trailer was in storage and from a good distance from our home I,M asking for help.

From what I know from the literature, it is a queen bed (60 inch wide).

From what I've seen it look rather small. Did not have my tape with me.

Is it just an illusion? I've notice some space around the mattress.

Can someone please give me the exact measurement on the mattress and the measurement front the cavity where the mattress sit-in.

60" by 80" queen sheets fit, not full sheets. Space around the edge gives you room to tuck the sheets in. On our Casita we had a foam mattress made that was exactly the size of the opening. There was no room for fingers to tuck in sheets.

So the mattress is a reel queen size and there is extra space...

So the area is a little bigger by, from what I've seen, an good inch around.

It's a proper queen size bed with the rear two corners rounded off. (custom mattress) that said, a normal queen size mattress will fit too, just with the two corner squeeshed a little but not a difficult fit. I noticed this because once I push the mattress in backward and the two rounded corner is very visible by the fridge/kitchen wall. The queen sheets will fit fine. It might look smaller because it's enclosed space.

On the escape trailer website under the 19 there is a link to a schematic giving all kinds of measurements and the locations of outlets etc.

What they said...but I did take the tape out and the actual space wall to wall is 60.25 inches wide by 80 inches long. We love every inch of it and that is why we purchased a 19.

You will appreciate that 1" air space in the winter, it will help keep your mattress from the cold walls which can cause condensation if not careful.

This is an IKEA queen size slatted bed base. Except for the rounded corners it easily fits the space.

My problem with my queen sized mattress is the fitted sheets are such a bear to wrap round at the corners - I keep bouncing around and losing my balance - and then they don't stay in place. Seems they like to migrate away during the night.

We have one nice looking thick fitted sheet over the mattress to protect it, which stays on for extended periods. On top of that we use a sleeping bag with a removable liner. My wife sewed the bottom and up 2 feet on either side of two sheets to form a liner. It and the sleeping bag has a tie in the two lower corners to keep it in place. We carry a few liners and wash and replace as required. Much easier to flop a sleeping bag into place than cramming you hands down the side of the mattress every day.

we use the deep pocket one and tucked it under the mattress, smaller hands helped I guess. It stays where it's supposed to be so far..

We just put on a nice mattress cover and use the Trava-Sak system, smooth it out, sheets stay inside.

I splurged and bought a queen size RV Superbag. Love it. I also had Escape make me a matching mattress cover with leftover fabric.

I followed your example and did the same mod on my classic 2013 E19’. Except I did not trim the thickness of the side rails like you did. (Did not have a suitable saw at the time.) It turned out to be a happy accident because it raised the mattress up about 3”. That resulted in more room to tuck in the sheets because now the mattress was closer to the wider belly band part of the trailer. One of the best mods ever! I’m planning on doing the same on our new 5.0.

I put these on the fitted bed sheets and the migration stops.

How in the world do you attach these, We could never raise the mattress up more than a little just to install the sheets let alone get underneath to the far side. Too bad the mattress does not come in 2 pieces, that would really simplify things.

That would be my problem, too. We've tried elastic corner clasps but they do not stay clasped. I got needle and thread, and Velcro, -- bought a roll of wide ribbon and a tube of Super Fabric Adhesive. Will try to snake the ribbon under the mattress, make straps I can snug tight.

our mattress is semi flexible and if I bend it a little it can be folded/turned and move towards the hallway (on the 19) you kind of have to get the mattress out of the way to install the bed slats too... I don't know if that's how you put the thingie on tho.. just saying I have moved the mattress a few times and it's pretty easy to do
