Bring some down from Oregon. In the 16 days we were gone, only two had no rain. I would guess it rained at least 2/3 of the time. Our rain gear got lots of use.

Found it interesting that I can't get earthquake insurance. Not all that far from here is the New Madrid fault and Chicago will most likely feel anything big that happens there. A 29 year career in law enforcement and the City had 1 disaster drill, none recently. Went looking up some information and found this website. Today's Earthquakes in Missouri, United States

Wish they had a way to somehow move it down here so we can share too. Trees are dying and dirt everywhere . Pat

We had CEA earthquake insurance in addition to our homeowners! Of course we lived RIGHT on the fault and maps indicated it as a liquidfication area. The policy was 600 a year with a 25000 deductible and the small print said damage must be a certain amount for the policy to be valid! Is it worth it? Dunno!

We both were LEOs and first responders to the Cypress freeway during the Loma Prieta. Took us awhile before we started eating pizza again!

FEMA app

Bump: FEMA has a cellphone app that gives info on preparing for disasters, guidance on how to survive one, and other info. You can subscribe to various alerts. Search "FEMA" on your relevant app store.

Of interest to some is DHS's "National Interoperability Field Operations Guide" (NIFOG) which has an "eNIFOG" app as well. It is a reference for communications info such as frequencies and emergency communication procedures. In addition to the app you can download the PDF online (search for NIFOG) and a spiral-bound handbook is available for $20 from the Government Printing Office.
