Duraclear Wine Glasses
Be sure to check out Duraclear glassware at Williams-Sonoma.
Difficult to tell that it's not glass ( slightly lighter weight ).
DuraClear® Red Wineglasses, Set of 6 | Williams-Sonoma

Nice glasses, baglo. Know anyone who wants to go 3 ways? We only need two.

I only have the beer mugs, so will consider going in to get two wine glasses ( if we can get one more in group ). Have to talk to Les, since she's the wine drinker.
And, have to check Canadian price.
According to ca. web site would be $103 for 6 ( includes $10 shipping ). Store price is different ( will check ). Also comes in clear and three tints. I'd want clear.
Works out to about $35 per person ( two glasses each from one set of six ).

Humm, everyone who wants these going to the Escape Rally? There's two Williams-Sonoma stores in Portland. I could buy a set of six and send them up with Dave&Kathie, you could pick your two and pay them. No sales tax, no S&H. Just for your kindness. Wouldn't want to ship them however....

Sounds like a brilliant idea. On the US web-site set of six is $70 with free shipping. Works out to $24 each, but they'd likely add tax to that.
Donna, I'm in for two clear wine glasses.
Thank you.

This topic is getting all fouled up. Okay, Glenn wants two wine glasses, two more are spoken for. Anyone want the last two? Need all six to be wanted! (I don't drink wine...) Send me a PM.
And please, US dollars. My credit union isn't an international bank.
Oh, I guess I'd better tell D&K, they're doing the "handling"! It will be okay, honest.

We don't need them, but I'm happy to help transport. We're going to be at the Escape rally after picking up our Escape on May 28th.

Donna and Glenn, Cheryl and I will buy the last two, if they're still available, and we will be at the rally in June. Thanks!

OK. We have a quorum.
Gonna be pricing in store and on-line to get best deal.
Donna may buy in-store or I'll order from U.S. site with shipping to U.S. address that my daughter and boyfriend maintain.
If somebody else wants in, I'll bow out since the Old Bag says she'd rather spend the money on the contents of the glass. If not, I'll still be in.
Donna gonna check store price when the snow clears so we have time.

We have acrylic (stemmed) wine glasses for use on our patio and really like them; however, the only problem is the weight. Since they're lightweight (which is why they look more like the "real thing"), they have a tendency to tip over when half full (I know, who EVER lets their wine glass get half full ... ). Thus, for the Escape, I purchased stemless acrylic from Sur La Table. They look like crystal and, because there's no stem, they don't tip over (yep, we tested them). My husband was horrified at first because he is one of those "don't touch the bowl of the glass" people but he's come around to the fact that he'd rather keep his wine intact rather than look "chic" with the stem.

True, but store price is often higher and website usually charges and remits tax you would pay at shipping address.

The Duraclear are polycarbonate, not acrylic. They don't scratch as easily, feel close to glass in weight, and most important, feel right on your lips. Just several times more expensive.
Old Bag has friendly priced Riedel glasses she got for 70 per cent off, so she can afford to break a few.

For all the discussion, I have to admit that I drink my beer from the can.

We will have to look at the polycarbonate for home as I'm just about ready to throw the ones we have into the Goodwill bag. Thanks for helping me spend even more money!! HA!

Everything in the dish ware and drinking container cabinet seems to be plastic, or something similar, but I draw the line at three things: my coffee mugs, wine glasses, and scotch glasses. The mugs are ceramic, and the others are all glass. We carry two red wine glasses and two white wine glasses (the civilities must be observed!) and, knock on wood, have yet to break one. And to drink a good single malt scotch out of anything but glass just isn't the same.
