Earliest Completion Date

We received our earliest completion date email this evening, so I assume everyone else is as well.

We made our deposit on 2020-10-02 when the build dates were Jan 2022, but choose April 2022 because we didn’t want a winter pickup and got 2022-04-01.

Our ECP is 2021-10-15.

I did some Excel guesstimating in the last week or so and this is about what I expected based on my deposit date.

It’s a little ironic since I was offered Oct 25 in early Dec and declined (again, winter ).

Not sure what I will do. (again, winter). I had been hoping for but not really expecting Sep.

How’s everyone else feeling about it?

Well, one thing we can confirm then is that the earliest possible date is based on the date you picked, and not the date that you placed your deposit.

I say this because I placed my deposit on 10/16/2020, picked a 3/1/2022 date, and just now was given and earliest possible date of 9/29/2021.

So you put your deposit down before me, but since you picked a later date I just moved in front of you.

Anyone who picked January or February moves in front of me, no matter when they placed their deposit. I don't think that is a good system.

Yes a bit of a bummer that they used BuildDate and not DepositDate because a Sept date would be much more tempting in my situation. That was one reason I started this thread - so I could whine.

I would go for it and hope it moves up one more time.

If you are willing to stop a few hours to let the roads clear you should not be delayed by snow to much. You can even have snow in September but it does clear fast.

Having crossed Canada and returning home here in BC Oct 10th 2017, you can expect most provincial camp grounds to be closed. Many private ones as well. However for your second night on the drive home there is a casino 1 hour west of Calgary and for the third night one in Swift Current. They are set up for campers with signage and I have stayed in both a few time.

If you want further details you can message me.

I would not want a fall date . They used to give free 90 day storage , but i guess they changed that to 30 days. April 2022 nice time with the summer ahead and a brand new trailer . hopefully pandemic will be over. You will also probably be offered a inventor unit before then. if you really want one. I do find it odd they plan on building 60 inventor units when deposits on so many units . personally I rather stick with a date I am sure of.

I think they should go to the date you make you deposit . In my case i had picked a July date almost 1 year out. my date got delayed with the covid shutdown. I could understand the shutdown but when they reopened many people got there trailers ahead of me even know there deposit was months after mine. I didn't like that.

The email makes it clear that one does not have to "go for it" at this time, you can just 'let it ride', it may be revised to yet another earlier date, no action required at this time. Complete verbatim email text [with embedded hyperlinks disabled but displayed in RED]:

Dear Alan,

Earliest Production Completion Dates

Thank you for choosing Escape trailer. We have been working on plans to steadily increase our production capacity. If we are successful we should be able to offer you an earlier completion date.

Your guaranteed production date of 2021-08-18 (Year/Month/Day) is secure and remains unchanged. You can OPT OUT of our earlier completion date opportunity.

We have calculated your Earliest Completion Date as 2021-08-10 (Year/Month/Day). This date is currently the best we believe we can achieve and we will update it regularly based on our production progress. At some point in this journey we will change your guaranteed Production Completion Date to an earlier date (with your agreement of course). This is an opportunity and if it does not work for you, you can OPT OUT.

Feel free to watch this explainer video Completion Dates

The key to success in preparation for an earlier completion date is to complete the Build Sheet Configuration process. We are not introducing any further new options in 2021 or 2022, and units produced in 2021 will be subject to 2021 pricing. So, there is no fear of missing out, and really no downside to configuring early.

We will be in contact at the appropriate time to start the configuration process.

As always, feel free to call or forward your questions to sales@escapetrailer.com.
Thank you. Your Escape Team!

______________________________

So, unless one elects to "OPT OUT" at this time, we get the advantage of updated early completion possibilities with no obligation to accept any of them. Seems like a no-brainer to me .... let it ride (don't "OPT OUT"), and see what the future offers, there's no action required until we are actually contacted "at the appropriate time" to start our configuration process.

A toss up. IF you are storing the trailer at home, especially under cover, I'd be inclined to get it early. You'd have several months to do mods you know you want to do, let the trailer outgass and maybe, just maybe, be able to use it if the weather breaks.

Tend to agree, Donna, with another factor being 'border opening' for we state-siders who intend to take delivery in Sumas and would like to visit Chilliwack for orientation and 'last check' as part of that (per the 'pre-Covid' state-side pickup routine).

It appears that events are going the other way, what with Covid variants.

From CBC story: Canada has had a ban on non-essential travel into the country by anyone who isn't a citizen or permanent resident since March, but banning the flow of Canadians in and out of the country is a thornier task.
People who return from abroad for non-essential reasons must quarantine for two weeks, or risk hefty financial penalties or jail time — a measure that's also been in place since March.
As of earlier this month, most travellers must also show proof of a negative COVID-19 test before arriving in Canada.

I made my deposit on November 7, 2020. My guaranteed production date is April 14, 2022 and my new early completion date is October 21, 2021.

I’m very happy with this - I’ll take earlier if it happens though!

May be. Personally I've given up on following speculation about travel restrictions .... just gonna play the hand that's dealt when the time comes.

I think Escape and their new private equity group needs to have "the talk" with their production scheduler.

I was pleased to get an earlier date and I'll take it.

Where I think ETI is making a mistake is in adjusting ECPs based on requested build date. Someone putting down a deposit last fall probably picked a late spring 2022 date just because they didn't want a mid-winter delivery.

Those people would probably love an earliest possible late-summer 2021 date, and they should get one based on the deposit date. I really don't understand hewing to the original build date and not the deposit date.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks to all for your usual insightful comments.

Still undecided what to do, but that is my usual modus operandi. I can usually see that all sides to any position have some merit.

Although I had seen many comments about off-gases for new Escapes, I hadn't really clicked that that might affect me - duhh. Certainly a very good point.

Thanks again.

Well, I was the procrastinator, waited on putting down a deposit, watching the situation, finally placed a deposit on 1/4/2021. Accepted the first available Production Complete date of 08/24/2022.

Received my Earliest Completion Date of 01/05/2022. Dead of winter... We were thinking about a delivery, but also thinking the possibility of meeting them half way by having it delivered to Salt Lake City, UT ($999) vs Denton, TX ($1,999).

Hopefully we will move up, but if not, probably will do the full delivery to Denton, TX (Dallas areas). Hope the trailer isn't too dirty when it arrives.

Have you thought of getting it delivered to Denver instead? Not too bad of a drive from Dallas.

We have considered Denver, lived there many years ago. Only about $300 cheaper in terms of delivery fee... But, if I get moved up to late fall/early winter timeframe, then Denver would be a fun pickup destination... Thanks for the reminder!!

It seems it was not done based on deposit date. I made my deposit on October 6, 2020 and I now have an ECP of October 18, 2021. I told Escape (three times) I could not take a November - March date because I will be picking up at the factory and did not feel safe driving through the Rockies in winter. I also told them (three times) that I was interested in any April - October date in 2020. In retrospect, I should have taken the January 2022 and then the November 2021 dates I was offered, even if I had no intention of taking delivery on those dates. I had decided I would not "game the system" but let Escape know my situation honestly and trust that they would treat me fairly. That has turned out not to be the case. I will be letting Escape know how I feel and hope, perhaps naively, that any future date changes will be done based on deposit date.

Seems like there's an assumption that only one person makes a deposit on any given date. Heck you may have 10 people ahead of you on YOUR deposit date. Too maybe they contact everyone in order, but some wait a week or more to respond and by that time YOU have moved up and they did, but barely and now they're upset. Plus your trailer must slide into the production schedule by build type. I would imagine the logistics and trying to keep people happy is a nightmare for ETI.
