EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

I'm excited! Can you tell

It'll be ready within the next few days...and I have a question for you...

If you had a choice would you have the wheel wells done with the LineEx? I'm getting the front done and I have a chance to get the wheel wells done too if I want (at a cost of course). Now's the ideal opportunity to get it done instead of having to do it later on down the road. So....do you think it is a good idea to do it now?

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

I vote no. Nobody is looking at your wheel wells.
When it comes to washing that area, the smoother the surface, the better. I recommend avoiding cow patties...
I've had my Escape since 2008 and I admit, I haven't spent a lot of time examining the wheel wells, but I have washed them a couple of times. I haven't noticed any rock chips, and when I eventually do, I plan to ignore them.

Hi: nadia... I really advocate doing some things at time of build as they are usually less expensive than later down the road. IMHO Alf

I'm envious

We have four and a half months left to go. With the snow slowly melting, it would be nice to head out for an overnighter really soon!

Enjoy your Escape: maybe see you on the road.

cheers,

Gord

(oh ya - this is post number 50 for me )

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

Today , we got the word, our trailer is ready as well, one piece of paper work to do and it is ours.
That last piece of paper work is the mailing of a certified cheque to Tammy and Reace, for a job well done, and a thank you. Then we can say we are

"Escapee's" albiet newbies

Our Trailer "Yukon Escape" is a 19 footer.

The options we chose are;

Additional window over the sink
Extra signal lights along side the rear window "as others have done"
Dirt Skirt
Equalizer hitch
Interior LED lights (fixture with 15 anodes) what ever that is
Exterior LED lights 11 in total
Exterior storage box on front
Stainless sink and chrome faucet
Hitch wheel
Forest green graphics
Starter kit

Trailers name on back below window "Yukon Escape"

We did not go for the airconditioner, and did not want the extra vent in the roof.

We kept the Maxx fann

I am looking forward to picking up the unit and enjoying our first outing.

I will most likely modify the power cord so that it can be detached.
I will also be looking into insulating the floor.

Oh Look! An option that I didn't know existed! What on earth (no pun intended) is a dirt skirt?
What are the 11 the Exterior LED lights? Are these the signal and running lights (which I thought were LED by default) or are they additional lights?

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

Many new options are "discovered" reading this forum. Things like the propane/elect water heater come to mind. While the Escape Trailer webpage is excellent (compared with the competition trailers) it still could be improved with updated options page and even pictures of what the various options and components look like.

I don't kniw what a dirtskirt is either.

To YukonEscape and Nadia: Are your trailers earlier than the original hatching date or are they exactly on the predicted arrival date?

Thanks,
Gord (who is no longer a newbie!)

The exterior running lightrs are available as LEDs (I assume they are standard Incandescents otherwise). We also had the exterior (switchable) fixtures installed as LEDs. Reace installed in interior switch which controls the exterior lights so we can turn them on or off from inside (I can't tell you the number of times I've left the porch light on all night because I couldn't see it. The inside switch solves that).

I just noticed that this is post #250 for me, and I'm now a four star Sr. Member. I think I'll go put a coat of polish on our trailer to celebrate!

Hi: All...Is a dirt skirt like a grass skirt only skimpier I do know that "Our Escape Hatch" had the water heater changed out at time of pickup in Chilliwack and has been a boon ever since. Even my faux pas of turning on the elect. element with no water in it, only cost $16.50 for a new one. Alf

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

Hello all

There is one more option I did not list;

We also have the extra insulation and double windows.

The mystery. What is a dirt Skirt?

A dirt skirt is that beard, whiskers, mustache, that hangs down from your rear hitch to stop gravel rocks sand from flying up and hitting our new exterior storage box.

Thanks folks

Doug

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

Folks

The exterior LED lights as noted by Garand are all the exterior lights.
This includes runnining lights stop and signal lites as well as the porch light.

In short all lights in and on the trailer are now LED.

I will be towing with a Dodge Dakota pick up, the vehicle is fitted out with a factory installed heavy duty towing package.
This includes a class 4 hitch, oil coolers on transmission and engine, 750 ampere hour battery etc.
The engine is 8 cylinder and very good on gas 27mpg,
The truck has a 20 gallon fuel tank and I have added a custom made tank that holds 48 gallons.

All towns in the Yukon are at least 200 miles apart.

Shanngord - yes, my trailer is a week or so ahead of time due to the factory moving.

Cheers,
Nadia

Hi Doug,

Was the "dirt skirt" an option from Escape or from an RV parts store?

I would be interested to hear about (and see) how you eventually insulate the floor. Please keep us posted on that project as the unisulated floor and holding tanks seem to be what keeps some people away from Escape (or other fiberglass trailers) and into Airstream Bambis (major $$$) or old 4 season Bigfoots (Bigfeet). Perhaps, if your innovations are successful, Reace and Tammy would consider a similar system as a factory supplied option.

Honk your horn on Hwy 97 in 100 Mile House on your way through. If you are heading north with your Escape, I'll know who it is.

Four and a half months to go and still looking for more options,

Gord

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

Folks
Two questions?
The dirt skirt is an option from Escape trailers, Reace and Tammy apparently have them, and that is where we got the one refered to.
I would suppose you can get them from a auto parts store, but a little comparison pricing might be in order.

Yes our 19 footer is hatched early, on the march calender schedule you will see a 19 footer for Whitehorse, that is us.

This was not a scheduling mix up, Tammy can explain, basicly time was alloted for the change to the new location and things went better than planned so the schedule was reorganized.

I can be more specific about inovations when we get home with the trailer.

I have been through 100 mile house many times and Willys Pond, did a lot of work at Canim Lake, and reserves around there. I will honk, perhaps another option would be a siren.

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

Nadia;

You are going to get your trailer long before I can head down the road to pick up ours, and so will be enjoying it alot sooner than us.
It went down to minus 36C last night and warmed to minus 24C to day. But it was sunny.

Probably a poor day to go boondocking.

You said you are getting your trailer. Which one and what options do you suggest for your situation.
I think I have read every post in this forum and all of the Ideas I have had so far are gleaned from the threads that all of you together have posted, realy nothing original on my part.

Would like to read your thoughts

Re: EEEEEEE!!!!! My trailer is almost ready.......

I took my new 19ft out of the shop today getting ready for the first camping trip this weekend. The sun was shinning and the white trailer was bright. I did check the lug nuts with a torque wrench and found some not tight. The factory told me to check the lug nuts upon arriving at home, glad I did.
